Right on, American Glob.

David S., you are demonstrating media's double standard. Sure, JtP has no reporting qualifications, but didn't we learn last year experience doesn't matter much?

This is an excellent blog. Think I'll link to it.

Thanks for the ping. Two things, one trivial and one less so. As to the trivial, I actually write for the Portland Examiner. Not sure how I showed up in Boston.

My criticism of Joe the Plumber is more that the situation in the Mideast is profoundly complex, and here's a guy whose sole qualification for reporting and analyzing this complex situation is his celebrity. Here's an example. During the campaign, he endorsed the notion that election of Obama meant the death of Israel, though it's clear from Obama's voting record, political work, and views on the subject that he'll continue to support Israel. So he's qualified to be an analyst?

To his credit, he hit an under-reported issue, and that is the thousands of Hamas rockets fired into Israel. This is cold comfort. We simply won't get out of this death dance by assigning all blame to one side or another. That's why both the far right and the far left are totally off the mark on the Israel-Palestine conflict.

I'm also amused with your view that Obama is unqualified to serve as president. The entry of my blog that you quoted actually paid tribute to both Sen. McCain and Pres.-elect Obama and provided only limited support for Pres-elect Obama. But more important, don't you think he'll do a better job than the guy who has been in charge for the last eight years? Admittedly, that's a low threshold--maybe we should aim higher?
