One would think that the election of Barack Obama, the candidate who sent the famous “thrill” up the leg of Olbermann’s Barney Rubble-esque sidekick, would be enough to cool this reliable geyser of BDS.
But then one would be wrong.
In his Special Comment from just two nights ago, on the eve of Obama’s coronation, instead of celebrating a victory he worked so hard to secure, he was just spewing the same venom we’ve been hearing for eight long boring years.
Olbermann calls for Obama to get right to the prosecution of Bush for torture and dammit, he’s mad.
“We have tortured people. You and I.”
Well, Keith if you and I are guilty of torture, then should Obama not prosecute you and I?
Olbermann is particularly miffed about the treatment of Khalid Shaikh Mohammed. You know… the guy who conspired to murder 3,000 Americans on September 11th. Keith likes to defend people like that. How dare America kick the snot out of this guy to protect other American lives!
“Never mind Mr. Bush’s delusions here—never mind that all primary sources who witnessed the interrogation of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed said they got nothing from him until they started buddying up to him.”
Oh, buddying up to him? Is that what we should have done? Well, problem solved, why didn’t they appoint you to head the CIA Keith?
“This is the people’s democracy, we are the people, these were our elected officials. That they did not come to us and ask to act thusly in our names is unfortunate, indeed criminal, but it is also almost irrelevant. They worked for us, they tortured people, and so… we have tortured people.
Mr. President-Elect, you have been handed the beginning of that future. Use it—to protect our children, and our distant descendants, from anything, like this, ever happening again.”
So let me get this straight Keith. When you say you want Obama to protect people from this ever happening again, you’re not talking about terrorist attacks on the United States, you’re begging Obama to protect us from interrogating the people who want to kill us. Yeah. OK.
Keith, what the hell are you going to talk about for the next 4 years?
