Leaders of the House Republicans are urging their colleagues to vote against the Economic Stimulus Bill big Democrat payback. Wow. Fiscal conservatism from Republicans? We were beginning to forget about that.
Kudos to John Boehner and Eric Cantor. They’re right to oppose it. Have you gazed into the eyes of the beast?
Perhaps they’ve recognized what many American citizens already know.
That this has nothing to do with creating jobs. That this is just an insane spend-o-rama that will ultimately just grow the size of government and funnel money to groups like ACORN. That this has to do with making more people dependent upon the government, thereby creating more Democrat voters to ensure long term control.
Dick Morris has referred to the stimulus package as a Trojan Horse:
“We will exit his first year – and even the first hundred days – as France, burdened with massive government regulation, a vast public sector, and permanent middle class entitlements. And Obama will take care to arrange things so that massive and permanent political change accompanies his and protects his legislative achievements in the future.
He will call this radical change a stimulus package. He will dress up a generation of liberal priorities as necessary steps to fight the economic crisis.”
The irony with the Stimulus Bill is that Obama doesn’t even need House Republicans to vote for it. The Democrats can get this passed on their own.
So why then is Obama making such a big deal about gaining support from the GOP?
Simple.
He knows it’s not going to do what he says it will. And when it doesn’t, when the economy is still in the dump and we’ve just spent a TRILLION dollars, he wants to make sure Democrats aren’t the only ones with their fingerprints on the smoking gun.

When I think of the 700 billion dollars (and counting) that we are spending to bring “freedom to Iraq”, to rebuild Iraq’s roads, bridges, schools, to train and equip their police force and army, the get their electricity working and to bring clean water to their villages….I have to ask “Where is the Republican outraged when all that taxpayer money was being spent on a foreign country thousands of miles away (despite Iraq’s huge oil wealth)
Sure, there’s some spending programs that won’t do a whole lot to stimulate the economy in Obama’s package…but at least it’s money that’s being spent here in the US.
I’d rather see tax dollars go to to putting sod on the mall in Washington DC or building a bridge in Minneapolis… rather than being wasted over in Iraq.
How do you explain to your children that we spent $700 billion in Iraq but have nothing to show for it but a shoe thrown in the presidents face.
Why didn’t the Republicans protest loudly about deficit spending and wasted tax dollars back then?
Is it because the money was going to Iraq and not to America??
