Obama + FEMA + Kentucky = Media Silence
Where is the outrage over the FEMA response to the deadly ice storms in Kentucky that have killed 30 people?
It has been two weeks since the storm and many in Kentucky are still without power.
“… a Jan. 27 ice storm knocked out power to 1.3 million customers from the southern Plains to the East Coast. More than 769,000 of those were in Kentucky. The storm has been blamed for more than 50 deaths in nine states, 30 of them in Kentucky.”
Isn’t this the exact same type of situation that prompted Kanye West to proclaim “George W. Bush doesn’t care about black people?” Ignore the fact that the blame for the slow response to Katrina was due to the ineptness of a Democrat governor who has since been replaced with a much more competent Republican governor. Where is the media outrage for Kentucky?
If you search Google News for coverage you won’t find much. Sure the San Diego State University student newspaper is writing about it:
“FEMA has failed to do its job twice. Citizens have needlessly died while cities remain in ruins. It is absurd that a United States agency cannot get it together enough to achieve its objectives in even medium-sized natural disasters. If natural disasters, which are not the country’s only hazards, can’t be handled by FEMA, it’s painful to contemplate what the response would be to the ever-present threat of terrorist attacks.”
Bravo.
You might have noticed a CNN story, if it wasn’t buried on their website, which points out that Kentucky residents were even given tainted peanut butter:
“Food kits recently distributed as part of a disaster relief effort in Kentucky and Arkansas may contain peanut butter contaminated with salmonella linked to a nationwide outbreak, the Federal Emergency Management Agency said Wednesday.”
Of course, there’s no criticism of the president or FEMA in the article.
Why? Because President Obama is the candidate of the press. They got him elected and to point out any wrong doings by Obama is to admit their own failure.
What was President Obama doing following the ice storm that ravaged Kentucky? Was he on the phone with the governor? Was he flying into Louisville on Air Force One to see the damage himself?
No. He cranked up the heat at the White House and dined on Wagyu Steak to the tune of $100 per pound.
What has the media done since? Conveniently looked the other way.
Pathetic.
