Stephen Colbert Tries to Ride Glenn Beck’s Coattails to Ratings
If you’re a fan of Glenn Beck, you’ve probably noticed a lot of media types are taking swipes at Glenn lately. Case in point is Stephen Colbert who has been having a great time poking at Beck recently.
There is of course, a reason for this. Beck’s ratings are through the roof. Colbert and others who make fun of Glenn, wish they had ratings like his. Naturally, they think they can up their ratings by belittling him.
The other reason they have to make fun of him is because his ideas are Libertarian and Conservative and he’s striking a major chord with the way A LOT of Americans feel. The liberal media types who see it as their duty to protect Obama jump right into the fray and try to discredit and belittle anyone who might harm the image of the Dear Leader.
Imagine the look on Stephen Colbert’s face this weekend when he read a story about Glenn Beck’s popularity in, of all places, The New York Times:
“Mr. Beck, an early-evening host on the Fox News Channel, is suddenly one of the most powerful media voices for the nation’s conservative populist anger. Barely two months into his job at Fox, his program is a phenomenon: it typically draws about 2.3 million viewers, more than any other cable news host except Bill O’Reilly or Sean Hannity, despite being on at 5 p.m., a slow shift for cable news.”
Given that, expect more attacks on Glenn Beck. After all, Stephen Colbert wants to read about Stephen Colbert in the New York Times.
