Russel, what makes you so sure that a true libertarian is in favor of "gay marriage"?

On one hand, the government should never discirminate. On another hand, the government should never favor marriage. That's what the gay community wants, in an attempt at getting "Equal rights". What we should be doing is moving towards privatization of marriage.

Bill Maher, however, is not a libertarian. He wants gun control, he had to ask Joe The Plumber how raising taxes to "give other people a chance" is socialism, and he believes that global warming is "too big for the government not to handle" (if there is something that would legitimately pollute instantly, then there would need to be government regulations. Global warming is not the time for government regulation). The only libertarian aspect of his philosophy, other than his unhealthy obsession with pot, is his belief in privatizing social security. He is one of those fools who thinks that just because he is intolerant of religion and that he likes smoking pot, means that he's a libertarian.

You're right, Russell. Real Libertarians believe the government should butt out of the lives of American citizens.

You're wrong, Russell. Coulter and O'Reilly are speaking truth to power unlike the drooling mainstream media which is actively pushing Obama's ever intrusive Big Brother agenda.

Smart Libertarians will always side with conservatives. We may not agree on everything but we have MUCH more in common with them than we do with people like Obama and the socialist Democrats.

Don't know enough about Maher to say. I will say this: real libertarians are pro-choice, favor allowing gays to marry, want strict separation between church and state, and view personal liberty issues such as those at least as important as tax rate. Today's right wing, as exemplified by Coulter and O'Reilly, are anathema to any libertarian.
