Obama and His Minions: The Real Astroturfers
As ordinary Americans show up for town halls to make their disapproval of ObamaCare known, the Obama White House and Obama’s base supporters have accused the protesters of being an orchestrated astroturf movement.
This could not be further from the truth. In fact, the exact opposite is true.
Philip Klein, writing at the American Spectator points out a little meeting Obama had with a group of liberal bloggers not too long ago.
“Last month, President Obama held a conference call with a small group of liberal bloggers, asking them to keep pressure on Congress in the health care fight. Now those same bloggers are part of an orchestrated effort by the Democratic Party and the White House to portray protests against their health care legislation as, well, orchestrated.”
Ed Morrissey at Hot Air has a post which features official emails from the DNC and Organizing for America which invites supporters to attend town halls carrying flyers that are covered with Obama symbols.
“Because nothing says grassroots like the Obama campaign logo on the top, and Obama’s website URL on the bottom. That small print at the bottom reads, “Paid for by Organizing for America, a project of the Democratic National Committee … This communication is not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee.”
“Uh, sure … except for the Obama logo, the Obama URL, and the weird “Oh, thank you Dear Leader” message, who would think that it was authorized by Obama?”
And now NPR is reporting that since Team O is losing the message battle, they’re bringing in the big muscle. Organized labor unions.
“Like the cavalry, organized labor reportedly plans on swooping in to the rescue of beleaguered lawmakers who are getting shouted down by conservative activists at town-hall meetings during discussions of health-care overhaul legislation.”
So who is really organizing an orchestrated campaign? Obama and his minions. The real astroturfers.
