Obama To Visit Ground Zero Tomorrow… For The FIRST Time Since Becoming President

Isn’t that a bit stunning?

We’re well into the third year of Obama’s presidency and he’s about to visit Ground Zero for the first time???

It’s clear that the White House team is thinking very big when it comes to President Obama’s Thursday visit to Ground Zero, his first since taking office.

Obama invited former President George W. Bush and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani to hear him speak at the former site of the World Trade Center. Bush declined, and Giuliani’s status is unclear, but those are the kinds of guests one would invite for a major political event.

I knew he skipped the 9/11 memorials in 2009 and 2010 but I thought he went there at least once.

It is shocking that Obama has found time to party with countless celebrities at the White House, hold regular meetings with union bosses and attend numerous fundraising events for the Democratic Party, yet is visiting Ground Zero for the first time as President of the United States in his third year in office.

The fact that the visit comes less than a week after the announcement of Osama Bin Laden’s death paints Obama’s long overdue Ground Zero visit rather cynically. The media’s rush to use Bin Laden’s death as nothing more than a big polling bump for Obama is all the proof we need.

Obama isn’t finally visiting Ground Zero for America. He’s doing it for himself.

UPDATE: A reader offers this video which shows Obama has visited NYC for other reasons on multiple occasions but still never found the time to visit Ground Zero before now.
