The Great Conservative Blogger Freak Out Of Iowa 2011

Erick Erickson is freaking out about Rick Santorum…

Santorum has no money or organization outside of Iowa and cannot win the nomination, but Iowans love a guy who sucks up to them and makes sure they know he loves the babies.

As a pro-lifer myself, I have to throw up a bit in my mouth that Iowa conservatives are seriously considering Rick Santorum, which will only help Mitt Romney, a guy who even after his supposedly heartfelt conversion to life put some seriously pro-abortion judges on the Massachusetts bench hiding behind the “Well it was Massachusetts for Pete’s sake” defense.

BigFurHat is freaking out about Newt Gingrich…

Emily’s List pretends that incremental rankings between the candidates means anything. It’s like a coroner putting a 4 ranking or a 10 ranking on a corpse in terms of how dead they are. What a farce.

The Hill: Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is ranked as the worst GOP candidate in this year’s presidential contest by EMILY’s List, a group that supports pro-abortion rights.

John Hawkins is freaking out about Mitt Romney…

Mitt Romney was a moderate governor in Massachusetts with an unimpressive record of governance, who left office with an approval rating in the thirties, and whose signature achievement was a Hurricane Katrina style disaster for the state. Since that’s the case, it’s fair to ask what a Republican who’s not conservative and can’t even carry his own state brings to the table for GOP primary voters. The answer is always the same; Mitt Romney is supposed to be “the most electable” candidate. This is a baffling argument because many people just seem to assume it’s true, despite the plethora of evidence to the contrary.

Eric Dondero is freaking out about Ron Paul…

“Racist” newsletters from Paul, stupid, silly, but real scandal is his opposition to Israel, and refusal to acknowledge Islamist attacks on America on 9/11.

Allahpundit is freaking out about Michele Bachmann…

How sudden is this? Well, according to WaPo’s Dan Balz, Sorenson was at a Bachmann event just three hours before he suddenly appeared onstage at a Paul event to endorse him and say, “I thought it was my duty to come to his aid, just like he came to my aid during my Senate race, which was a very nasty race.” Maybe he and Bachmann had some huge blow-up this afternoon that forced him to quit the campaign in a huff? Or … maybe he saw that CNN poll, realized that Santorum is likely to top her next Tuesday as the anointed social-con candidate, and figured he might as well bail out now and join the likely winner.

Smitty is freaking out about Rick Perry…

I mean, isn’t Rick from “Don’t mess with” Texas? Haven’t the Virginia rules, while arguably onerous, been published a long time? While not a 10th Amendment call, doesn’t this very suit kind of trample the notion of federalism? If the Virginia primary was Newt’s Pearl Harbor, does this suit risk turning it into Perry’s Alamo?

I refuse to freak out about Iowa.

Any Republican is better than Obama and the people of Iowa aren’t stupid.

Let the caucusing begin.
