Ann Althouse Poll Makes Strong Case For Romney

Ann Althouse asked a very simple question on her blog today…

If you had to trust one of these individuals to handle your personal financial affairs…
Let’s assume you’ve got complicated, extensive financial affairs. We’re talking about all your life’s savings, all the contingencies of a long retirement for you and medical care for you and your family, and all of the wealth that could be preserved for your children and grandchildren, and all that you might be able to contribute to various causes.

You have to choose one of these individuals to take care of everything:

-Newt Gingrich
-Barack Obama
-Ron Paul
-Mitt Romney
-Rick Santorum

Here are the results of the poll at 9:45 PM ET.

I’d have to agree.

  That’s a bogus poll because of one thing, you asked about your personally. Now, you want to straighten out the government to make sure you have all these things and the government doesn’t screw them up. This means you have to draft legislation and push it through a Congress who is, not only looking to get itself re-elected, but to keep things the way they are.

  I’d love Mitt Romney to advise me personally and help me out, however when it comes to legislating, there’s only one Newt and he’s still the guy who could get this done. I’m not sure he knows how to make that case, but there’s a lot more at stake in this election. I’m sure anyone can beat Obama, it’s what they accomplish afterwards that bothers me.

  Don’t get me wrong, I like Newt Gingrich very much.

  However, in response to the question Ann Althouse asks in her poll, I would definitely answer Mitt Romney.

  Ann left off the obvious “none of the above” category. I do not look to a politician to manage my finances. See John Corzine for the reason why not.

  Correct – its not even close and the point is – this is whats needed.

  I read of Romney and the more I read the more I like. He has lived a quintessential American life. Accomplished.

  The opposite of course of the triangulator in chief who would burn the country to improve his odds of another win, looking for that clean narrative to cover the fact that he is an utter fraud.

  ps. dont tell msm this is not new fit to print.

  NO WAY any other candidate has a better chance.

  Except Ryan he is Presidential timber as can be seen.

  Romney now to start turning the ship, Ryan next to keep it straight would be the way..

  Thats would be great if Mitt governed like he handled finances, but as RomneyCare has shown, he loses all economic sense when dealing with political issues.

  Give him your finances when he was in the private sector and your be set for retirement, give him your finances once he became a politician and he trades all your money for “magic beans” and the hope for a few votes.

  Which Romney would we get if he won? Until i know the answer, i cant vote for him.

  There’s a fairly compelling case to be made that Romney made the most of a horrible situation in MA. Not to say that he gets to do whatever he wants just because the opposition is big and powerful, of course. If I have a problem with Romney it’s that, rather than say, “Look, the political alternative to RomneyCare was something far worse, so this is the best I could do under the circumstances,” he’s run around trying to sell that sh_t sandwich as a nice delicious ham and Swiss.

  I think the Romney we would get if he won would be the one he’d have been in MA with a powerful Republican majority in the lower chamber, that is to say, a totally different one than you saw in MA. Obviously it’s impossible to know for certain, but I’m willing to take my chances that it wouldn’t be worse than what Obama has on offer for a second term.

  Another way of saying this: who among the candidates would you choose to be the executor of your will and the trustee of your estate. Of those choices I’d have to go with Mitt as well.

  Here’s another question: which of the five would you choose to be your children’s guardian if you died while they were still minors? For me it would be between Mitt and Santorum. Not that this is a perfect criterion for choosing a president, but it certainly says something about who you trust.

  Now the ultiamte question: which would you trust to watch your dog while you were on vacation? I’d be a little worried about Mitt on this one . . .

  You poll makes obvious what has been my opinion right along. Mitt Romney has the confidence of the electorate to solve our economic problems.
