Anti-Obama Movie Already The #2 Documentary of 2012
That would be Dinesh D’Souza’s new documentary 2016…
Compared to the big studio releases that can scoop up $50 million in a single weekend, a “success” in the world of documentary looks like chump change. Aside from the unpredictable performance of Michael Moore’s 2004 doc Fahrenheit 9/11, which rounded out at $119 million, most of the films on the highest grossing documentaries of all time list bow out with around $25 million.
So when a documentary starts earning seven-digit weekend grosses, people pay attention. That’s the case with 2016 Obama’s America, a new documentary from author Dinesh D’Souza, which first premiered in July on a single screen in Texas, grossing a whopping $32,000. Leveraging the buzz, 2016 slowly trickled out into theaters across the country. This past weekend, the film played in 169 theaters, bumping its overall take to just above $2 million. That already makes it the number two non-nature documentary of the year, just under Bully.
And now…
There’s a new movie that highlights the buyer’s remorse of Hope and Change.
According to Allahpundit, this movie is going to have its premiere at the RNC next week.
Back in 2008, the New York Times and other liberal media outlets made money selling Obama swag. In 2012, Obama has become toxic. My how things have changed.
Here’s the trailer…

Hm.
Well, hm.
I am disappointed all his campaign speech has seemed to led to naught until this recent election cycle. I remain surprised how close Liberals cling to him at this point, after all their disappointment, rather than trying to sling up someone who could really get some of their policies pushed forward better, like Hillary Clinton, or someone of the same sort of clout, (though hopefully with a sunnier disposition).
Regardless, I do not see much better results coming from Romney at this point either, nor any notable third party candidate.
Of course we cannot judge the merits of a presidency by the desperate pushes in their last hours, but uncomfortable to raise up another present candidate to take his place, I find myself locked in a circular conundrum. To not vote seems pointless, but to see no one I would be comfortable leading me seems just as unfortunate.
On to the documentary though, as that is the topic I’m responding to. Hm. Well, I could take it or leave it, it seems appropriately slanted and skewed, as one would expect from a politically charged film along these lines. It almost reminds me of a Moore film. Carefully selected interviews, carefully edited for maximum possible influence, but with a good heart (that not everyone is going to agree with).
I realize now that I’ve spent too long hovering on this comment.
You seem Conservative, but I’m not that smart, so I might be mistaken. You might not agree with me. Good. It takes all types to make a world.
Thanks for keeping this marginally unbiased though. It was refreshing.
Do you think he’s going to win this election?
Do you think Romney will flip-flop on his issues once he gets the nomination?
Have you ever lived by rail-road tracks? If so, what was it like?
