Why The Left’s Sexism Defense of Hillary Clinton Won’t Work Now Or In 2016
Since the earliest days of the 2008 presidential campaign, Democrats used the race card like an American Express Platinum edition with no spending limit. They’re still doing it to this day, any criticism of Barack Obama is instantly met with false accusations of racism.
Having successfully elected Obama to a second term, liberals are emboldened by their identity politics based catch-22 and they’re already planning to use the same formula to deflect criticism of Hillary Clinton. The George Soros funded Think Progress blog published a post today (sorry, no link) where they feigned outrage over the “sexism” displayed on the cover of the New York Post, see below.
The left’s strategy from now until 2016 is clear, they plan to play the sexist card any time someone criticizes Hillary Clinton. There are two very good reasons why that strategy won’t work.
1. Hillary Clinton
Anyone who followed the Democratic Primary of 2008 remembers the political war that waged between the Obama camp and the Clinton camp. As the fight dragged on and Obama supporters saw the threat that Hillary posed for Obama, things got ugly. Fast. Obama supporters donned “bros before hoes” t-shirts as lefty bloggers and even establishment media types denounced Hillary Clinton as too establishment. Bill Clinton even claimed that the Obama campaign played the race card on him and they did. The Democratic Party is hoping everyone forgot all of this. We haven’t.
2. Sarah Palin
When it comes to sexist attacks on a female politician, nothing in the history of the United States of America will ever come close to the vile, personal and even intimately biological attacks that liberals and their media allies used to smear and defame Sarah Palin in the 2008 election. The very idea that liberals think they can play the sexism card in defense of Hillary Clinton is patently absurd.
If liberals think this front page is sexism, wait until someone like Andrew Sullivan crawls up Hillary Clinton’s uterus and starts questioning Bill Clinton’s involvement in the creation of Chelsea.
