Racism Panic At Oberlin College Was Hoax Caused By Obama Supporters
Remember earlier this year when there was a big panic at Oberlin College? Liberal media types and celebrities pounced on the story as an opportunity to prove racism was alive and well in America, using it as an opportunity to smear conservatives as racists along the way.
There were student rallies, classes were cancelled, other colleges sent letters to Oberlin as a sign of solidarity.
There’s just one little problem. It was all a lie and the people who did it were progressives.
The Daily Caller broke the story today…
Meet the privileged Obama-supporting white kids who perpetrated cruel Oberlin race hoax
One of the two students removed from Oberlin College earlier this year for allegedly circulating virulently racist, anti-Jewish and anti-gay messages around campus is an ardent leftist and committed supporter of President Barack Obama, The Daily Caller News Foundation has learned.
Dylan Bleier, one of the two students, organized a voter registration drive on behalf of Obama before the 2008 election. That voter drive is still listed on the website for Organizing for Action, the non-profit group whose mission is to advance Obama’s agenda.
William Jacobson has written a detailed report which follows the timeline of the entire incident and serves as a reminder of how the left treated the story…
The Great Oberlin College Racism Hoax of 2013
A massive racism hoax took place at Oberlin College in February 2013 in which two students made seemingly racist, anti-Semitic and other such posters, graffiti and emails for the purpose of getting a reaction on campus, not because they believed the hostile messages. At least one of the two was an Obama supporter with strong progressive, anti-racist politics.
School officials and local police knew the identity of the culprits, who were responsible for most if not all of such incidents on campus, yet remained silent as the campus reacted as if the incidents were real. National media attention focused on campus racism at Oberlin for weeks without knowing it was a hoax.
Michelle Malkin is an Oberlin alumna who smelled a rat in this story from the beginning…
See, I told you so: Oberlin hoax confirmed
Well, well, well.
Loyal readers will remember my post of March 5, “Oberlin College: Still manufacturing hate crimes hoaxes after all these years” and my column of March 6, “The Coddling of College Hate Crime Hoaxers.” I recounted my alma mater’s history of hate crime hoaxes and lambasted the current college administration’s hyping and hysteria of dubious claims of hate crimes there this spring:
