Know What’s Really NOT Funny? Making Fun of Vietnam Vets

Don’t tell that to Seth MacFarlane, though. He and is -oh so clever- cohorts at Family Guy think making fun of Vietnam Veterans is just a laugh riot.

Here’s what happens: On a search to find the source of all dirty jokes (which eventually leads them to Virginia) Peter, Quagmire, and Joe pass through Washington, DC where they see the Washington Monument, the Obama Monument (it’s black) and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. This is the part that is going to ruffle some feathers. Standing in front of the Memorial are two Vietnam Vets and a Vietnamese man who calls the Memorial a “scoreboard” and says “aw, what happened to your friends? Hey I know that guy, I killed him, he cried like a bitch. Vietnam! Undefeated!”

American comedians won’t make fun of Obama and Comedy Central  is too chicken shit to make jokes about Islam. What else can the comedy world do but pick on Christians, Jews and Vietnam Vets?

As Jim Treacher notes:

It’s about time somebody took those Vietnam vets to task. They’ve gotten a free ride for way too long. Somebody had to take them down a peg, and MacFarlane, who is really funny and not at all a terrible human being, is just the guy to do it.

UPDATE: WWII Vet Wins Fight Over Flagpole!

I wrote about this outrageous story back on December 3rd. It was unbelievable to me that a 90 year old veteran of two wars would be harassed by a neighborhood association for the flagpole in his front yard.

Well the battle is over and he won.

“RICHMOND, Va. —  A 90-year-old Medal of Honor recipient can keep his 21-foot flagpole in his front yard after a homeowner’s association dropped its request to remove it, a spokesman for Democratic Virginia Sen. Mark Warner said Tuesday.”

“The Sussex Square homeowners’ association likewise has agreed to drop threats to take legal action against retired Army Col. Van T. Barfoot, Warner spokesman Kevin Hall said.”

“The association had threatened to take Barfoot to court if he failed to remove the pole from his suburban Richmond home by Friday. It had said the pole violated the neighborhood’s aesthetic guidelines.”

It’s great news that this honored veteran won but it still seems like a battle he never should have been forced to fight.
