When All Else Fails, Play The Race Card!

When it comes to despicable politics, Chicagoland never disappoints!

Blago defied logic and the senate in his attempt to appoint Roland Burris to Obama’s vacant senate seat today much to the chagrin of…. well everyone.

rolandburris

Knowing that this appointment would be difficult to swallow, Blago and his Chicagoland friend Bobby Rush offered a spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down.

“Congressman Bobby Rush dared white Democratic senators to block a black man from joining their ranks. He urged people “not to hang or lynch the appointee as you try to castigate the appointer” and, after saying repeaedly that Burris would be the only African-American in the Senate, said that he believed no senator would want “to go on record to deny one African-American from being seated in the US Senate”.”

Wow. Don’t hang or lynch the black man? Race baiting at it’s finest.

“As he left the room, Blagojevich echoed Rush, saying: “Feel free to castigate the appointer but don’t lynch the appointee.” “

Stunning. Just when you thought the situation couldn’t get worse.

Hell Has Frozen Over – I Agree With Harry Reid About Something

In the big news story of the day, disgraced Illinois Governor (is there another kind?) Rod Blagojevich held a press conference where he announced his choice for a candidate to take Obama’s senate seat. He chose former IL Attorney General Roland Burris but Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is having none of it.

‘Anyone appointed by Governor Blagojevich cannot be an effective representative of the people of Illinois and, as we have said, will not be seated by the Democratic Caucus,’ Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said in a statement.”

Never in a million years did I think I’d agree with Dingy Harry about anything but I am forced to admit I think he’s making the right decision. Amazing.

This is not about Mr Burris. It is about the integrity of a governor accused of attempting to sell this United States Senate seat,’ Reid said in a joint statement with other top Senate Democrats.”

Give ‘em hell Harry.

Blagojevich Pardons 22 People

According to this FOX News report, Blago rarely acted on pardon applications during his six years in office. I wonder what the mad rush is all about now?

Well, I guess the 22 people he just pardoned could raise his approval rating.

At this point, anything would be an improvement.

Hat tip to Gateway Pundit.

Blagojevich: Poster Child for Corruption

So sayeth Dick Morris:

“Every major spot in Illinois state government is now held by a Democrat. One party government, by either party, breeds the kind of arrogant corruption and self-seeking of which Blagojevich has become the poster child.”

The Fleecing of Illinois.

Do I think the president elect has some corrupt tie to Blago? No.

Do I think he’s shown himself incapable of knowing who NOT to hang out with? Yes.

Jerks at Slate Magazine Whine About Treatment of Obama

Oh, boo hoo! Now that Obama’s in charge, can’t we all just get along?

John Dickerson at Slate Magazine waxes such pathetic themes in his new article:  “Give the New Guy a Break”.

He does all he can to defend The One’s weak response to the the Blagojevich situation:

“As nonanswers go, it was fairly straightforward—far preferable to the usual tactic of giving a nonanswer and pretending it is a real answer.”

Yeah. OK, John. I admire your deep level of compassion for the president elect.

Too bad Slate didn’t have the same attitude when it was attacking Sarah Palin’s children. Do you remember a little poll Slate posted on September 2, 2008 that encouraged its readers to name the unborn child of Bristol Palin?

It was really classy.

Of course, all this “lay off Obama” stuff reminds me of the inauguration of George W. Bush in 2000. I didn’t vote for Bush in 2000 or 2004. I just enjoy pointing out blatant hypocrisy when I see it.

Check out the video below. It shows how wonderfully supportive people were of Bush when he was the new president. I particularly like the part at 00:30 when you can clearly see a sign that says “End Political Bribery.” Governor Blagojevich obviously didn’t get that memo.
