Maybe This is Why California is Broke…

If you know someone who works for a city or a state, you’ve probably heard them say something like, “The pay isn’t great but I have really good benefits.”

I’m betting you’ve never heard the same person say, “I work for a very poor small town but I make a cool $800,000.”

Hundreds of residents of one of the poorest municipalities in Los Angeles County shouted in protest last night as tensions rose over a report that the city’s manager earns an annual salary of almost $800,000.

An overflow crowd packed a City Council meeting in Bell, a mostly Hispanic city of 38,000 about 10 miles (16 kilometers) southeast of Los Angeles, to call for the resignation of Mayor Oscar Hernandez and other city officials. Residents left standing outside the chamber banged on the doors and shouted “fuera,” or “get out” in Spanish.

It was the first council meeting since the Los Angeles Times reported July 15 that Chief Administrative Officer Robert Rizzo earns $787,637 — with annual 12 percent raises — and that Bell pays its police chief $457,000, more than Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck makes in a city of 3.8 million people. Bell council members earn almost $100,000 for part-time work.

$100,000 for part time work? I must have missed that listing in the help wanted ads on Craigslist the last time I was looking for a job.

Maybe I should be checking at the porn listings. Is there a section dedicated to gouging the public that I somehow overlooked?

Obama Headed to California to Doom Barbara Boxer Campaign

I mean really, his record of campaigning for candidates isn’t great. Maybe this time will be different than the campaigns for Martha Coakley, Jon Corzine, Creigh Deeds, Arlen Specter and the Olympics. Maybe not…

President Obama will land in the Bay Area today to raise money for U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer’s re-election campaign as an anti-incumbent wave has Republicans in blue California convinced this is their best shot in years to oust their liberal nemesis.

The president’s two-day trip, which includes a pitch Wednesday for green jobs, underscores the high stakes for Democrats, who want to avoid a big loss this year in California, which could be a blow to the party in the 2012 presidential election.

Of course, this news hasn’t gone unnoticed by the NSRC:

“Instead of providing his undivided attention to fix this colossal Gulf Coast crisis, the President is making a frantic trip across the country to help Boxer, whose partisan voting record in favor of the Obama Administration’s stimulus debacle, massive health care overhaul, and out-of-control spending agenda in Washington has put her at risk of losing her seat in the U.S. Senate this November,”

Meet California’s “Whale Huggers”

It’s reassuring to know that California liberals have their priorities straight…

Self-described “whale-huggers” toughed chilling winds on the Santa Monica Pier on Sunday to restart a crusade they thought they’d won and to revise a familiar slogan: Save the Whales Again.

Way to focus on the issues, Golden Staters.

It’s not like California is broke or anything.

The more important issue is human rights for whales.

Notice the sign in the background which says Obama save the whales. How about Obama save the Americans? Too old school?

Don’t tell the “totally real” native American in the photo below that the Inuit people still hunt whales.

UCSD Student Openly Advocates Another Holocaust

This is shocking and disturbing.

David Horowitz of the NewsRealBlog recently spoke at University of California, San Diego during the Muslim Students’ Association’s “Israel Apartheid Week.”

After his talk, Horowitz took questions and had an exchange with an MSA member who openly professes her support for the destruction of the Jewish people. Watch the entire video below to reach this chilling exchange at the end:

Horowitz: Okay, I’ll put it to you this way.  I am a Jew.  The head of Hizbollah has said that he hopes that we will gather in Israel so he doesn’t have to hunt us down globally.  For or Against it?

MSA member: For it.

This is a student in an American University, openly advocating Nazi principles of anti-semitism.

The next time someone in the media or the government expresses worry over the radical nature of the Tea Party, perhaps they should be shown this video.

And then asked what they are doing about this problem.

Maybe Arnold Schwarzenegger Should Get Himself a Blogging Account at Daily KOS

Since he’s pushing the same misinformation about Arizona’s new immigration law.

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger gave the commencement address at Emory University on Monday.

His was a relatively non-political speech, but the Republican’s prepared remarks included this:

“I was also going to give a graduation speech in Arizona this weekend. But with my accent, I was afraid they would try to deport me.”

I guess he knows his political career is over anyway. Might as well go for the laughs.

You’d think he would support Arizona Governor Jan Brewer, given that they’re both Republican governors for border states. You’d think. As Brewer has pointed out, no one in Arizona is laughing.

Funny, I Don’t Remember Anything Like This Ever Happeneing at a Tea Party

Protesters who are angry about Arizona’s new illegal immigration law had a good time demonstrating in Santa Cruz this weekend by rioting, vandalizing and breaking windows.

Still waiting to see how the media will spin this story in the coming week. Most likely, they just won’t mention it.

A large group of protesters demonstrating at a May Day rally for worker’s and immigrant rights downtown broke off into a riot vandalizing about a dozen businesses around 10:30 p.m. Saturday, police said.
Many in the group were carrying makeshift torches as they marched, breaking storefront windows and writing “anarchist graffiti” on buildings, according to Capt. Steve Clark.

Many businesses sustained multiple broken windows including very large storefront windows at Urban Outfitters and The Rittenhouse building. Police believe at least 15 businesses suffered damage.

The violence was initiated from a group holding a rally at the town clock for May Day. Windows at Jamba Juice and Velvet Underground were left shattered and graffiti including anarchy signs were tagged onto buildings. Because of the size and violent demeanor of the crowd, Santa Cruz police asked for help from all agencies in the county to break up the riot.

Oh, and what do you know? Counter protesters who support the Arizona law were attacked, punched and kicked.

Looking at the Left has a collection of sign photos from the protest in Denver, CO.

Barbara Boxer Deserves to Fail

Why? Well, let’s see…

Barbara Boxer is a racist.

Barbara Boxer is an elitist who looks down her nose at our military.

And finally Barbara Boxer is a hypocrite.

But hey California voters, what do I know? If you’re happy with the current state of affairs in California under the present overwhelming leadership of Democrats, then by all means re-elect Barbara Boxer.

I’m sure she and her union controlled cronies will get it right this time.

Meg Whitman Says She’s a Big Fan of…Van Jones??? (Video)

In Ms. Whitman’s defense, according to the video’s poster she said this back in May, a few months before Van Jones caught the attention of Glenn Beck and the conservative blogosphere at which time his rather (ahem) unique political positions became known. However, if Whitman doesn’t want to be seen as another Scozzafavesque RINO candidate, she would be wise to address this as soon as possible.

California is already suffering. They need a good fiscal conservative as their new governor. Not someone who wants to push ideas like green jobs, social justice and redistribution of wealth.

ACORN Now Claiming Documents Were Stolen – From Their Garbage Cans

One man's trash is another man's treasure.

BigGovernment.com has been airing a hefty portion of ACORN’s dirty laundry this week, thanks to the efforts of a private investigator who recovered thousands of documents hastily dumped in the trash by San Diego’s ACORN office days before they were to be investigated.

ACORN is now reacting by claiming that the documents were stolen. From their trash.

“A tempest in a trash can is brewing in San Diego County, where ACORN is trying to recover tens of thousands of documents taken from its garbage by a Republican activist.”

“It’s the latest skirmish in a war between ACORN, which stands for Community Organizations for Reform Now, and conservative critics who accuse it of corruption.”

“Derrick Roach, a private investigator who unsuccessfully ran for a state Assembly seat last year, said he took more than 20,000 documents from a caged trash area behind ACORN’s office in National City on Oct. 9.”

“Some of the documents later posted on a Web site and displayed at a news conference Monday appeared to show driver’s license and Social Security numbers of ACORN members or job applicants.”

“There also were immigration records, credit reports, tax returns, credit card statements and bank account numbers, Roach said Tuesday.”

“ACORN California Head Organizer Amy Schur said the confidential papers were carelessly included in the trash, and there was no intent to dump rather than shred them.”

“We want to get our property back so that we can properly secure it,” she said.”

Perhaps you should have thought of that before, Amy. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

ACORN: The Scandal That Keeps on Giving

BigGovernment.com broke the latest chapter in the ongoing ACORN scandal today. According to a private investigator who has joined the effort, ACORN dumped thousands of sensitive documents just before CA Attorney General Jerry Brown was due to begin an investigation.

BigGovernment.com broke the latest chapter in the ongoing ACORN scandal today. According to a private investigator who has joined the effort, ACORN dumped thousands of sensitive documents just before CA Attorney General Jerry Brown was due to begin an investigation.

“Shockingly, we now learn that the ACORN office in National City (San Diego County) engaged in a massive document dump on the evening of October 9th, containing thousands upon thousands of sensitive documents, just days prior to the Attorney General’s visit.”

“BigGovernment.com has learned that not only did this document dump occur, but the documents in question were irresponsibly and brazenly dumped in a public dumpster, without considering laws and regulations as to how sensitive information should be treated.”

‘I am a local licensed private investigator. I took it upon myself to keep an eye on what the local ACORN office was up to, in light of the release of the undercover videos. I retrieved these documents from the public dumpster.”

“ACORN’s political agenda is also exposed, with thousands upon thousands of documents revealing the depth of the political machine that is ACORN, and its disturbing ties to not only public employee labor unions but some of the most radical leftist organizations.”

“The laws governing how sensitive, personal information such as social security numbers, driver’s license numbers, immigration records, tax returns, etc. must be treated are very stringent, and thus it seems as if ACORN may have committed serious violations in that department alone, with thousands upon thousands of potential plaintiffs.”

Visit BigGovernment.com to see photos, video and scanned documents.

In related news, an ACORN employee in Nevada who was found guilty of participating in voter fraud last year was sentenced today. The penalty? Three years of probation.

“LAS VEGAS — A former Las Vegas supervisor for the political advocacy group ACORN was sentenced Monday to up to three years’ probation for his role in a plan to pay canvassers to register Nevada voters during last year’s presidential campaign.”

“I just want to say I take responsibility for what I did,” Christopher Edwards told a judge who responded that he was “not pleased to say the least” by allegations that Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now paid bonuses to canvassers who collected 21 or more voter registration cards in August and September 2008.”

“I’m sorry. I truly am,” Edwards said, “and it will never happen again.”

We know it won’t happen again, Mr. Edwards. We’re watching you scumbags now.
