VIDEO: Krauthammer “A Speech Won’t Stop The Spill.”

Charles Krauthammer appeared on The O’Reilly Factor tonight to analyze Obama’s Oval Office address on the oil disaster in the gulf. Watch it all. Charles Krauthammer is in top form, as usual. Funniest quote: “He looked sincere for most of it.”

What a Load of Crap…

What does the left do when Obama can’t close the deal on their Progressive agenda?

They make lame excuses like “America has become ungovernable.”

“We’re suffering from an incoherent institutional set-up in the senate. You can have a system in which a defeated minority still gets a share of governing authority and participates constructively in the victorious majority’s governing agenda, shaping policy around the margins in ways more to their liking. Or you can have a system in which a defeated minority rejects the majority’s governing agenda out of hand, seeks opening for attack, and hopes that failure on the part of the majority will bring them to power. But right now we have both simultaneously. It’s a system in which the minority benefits if the government fails, and the minority has the power to ensure failure. It’s insane, and it needs to be changed.”

Earth to Democrats: You control everything. The White House, the Senate and the House of Representatives. If you can’t force your unpopular agenda items down the throat of America you need look no further than the nearest mirror to discover the root of the problem.

Furthermore, your hypocrisy knows no bounds. If a neocon had made the same suggestion Yglesias makes above while Republicans controlled the whole show, progressives would collectively howl cries of fascism from the rooftops.

Maybe if The Annointed One made the economy and jobs his priorities instead of trying to take over the American health care system and and trying to control the weather, you wouldn’t meet such resistance.

America is perfectly governable. The problem is your stupid ideas.

What a Surprise! Wealthy Liberals on Martha’s Vineyard Don’t Want Any Wind Power Turbines to Block Their Precious View

The planet is dying! Go green! Pass climate change legislation! Unless of course it impacts the lives of wealthy progressives. The Boston Herald reports that wealthy liberals on Martha’s Vineyard are fighting MA Governor Deval Patrick’s plan to build wind power turbines there.

What a surprise! They’re all for “green” power unless it’s in their backyard.

“Blazing a trail for renewable energy, Go. Deval Patrick is alienating Martha’s Vineyard’s liberal rich and famous by pushing a plan to lease state waters for 166 450-foot-high wind turbines between the pristine vacation spots of Gay Head cliffs and Cuttyhunk Island.”

“People come here because it’s a very special place. Not because they’re going to see David Letterman or someone, but because they can see the world the way it used to be,” argued an outraged Chilmark resident Andy Goldman.”

“Goldman, a retired trial attorney, and his wife Susan Heilbron, a former commissioner of New York City’s waterfront, are generals of the grassroots uprising Let Vineyarders Decide.”

“I plead guilty to thinking global warming is a real problem, but that doesn’t mean everybody who has a plan with the word ‘green’ has to be supported,” Goldman said.”

“Patrick’s final plan, due from Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs Ian A. Bowles no later than Dec. 31, would permit a commercial wind farm of up to 100 turbines southwest of the wildlife refuge Nomans Land adjacent to the Vineyard and another 66 turbines off Cuttyhunk Island. State waters extend three miles from shore. The turbines would be comparable to 50-story buildings crowned with strobe lights.”

“James Feiner, a Vineyard real estate broker, claims he lost a $2 million-plus home sale on Gay Head this fall when his client – an environmentalist, no less – got wind of Patrick’s plan and bolted.”

“A mortified Feiner wasn’t even aware it was being discussed.”

“For them to run a band (of turbines) from Cuttyhunk to Nomans Land is idiotic,” Feiner said. “It would have impacted the whole water view of (my client’s) property.”

His client’s property??? Hasn’t Mr. Feiner heard that we’re all socialists now? It’s no longer his client’s property, it belongs to all of us.

Just Got Off The Phone With Stacy McCain…

Robert Stacy McCain, with whom I enjoy a blogger friendship, is on his way to Orlando to cover the arrival of the Tea Party Express on Thursday. I caught up with him on his cell phone tonight as he was driving his way through the lower Appalachian Mountains.

RS McCainRobert Stacy McCain, with whom I enjoy a blogger friendship, is on his way to Orlando, Florida to cover the arrival of the Tea Party Express on Thursday. I caught up with him on his cell phone tonight as he was driving through the lower Appalachian Mountains.

No major scoops but I asked Stacy if he minded me putting up a blog post about our conversation. He didn’t mind at all so I’m happy to share the yadda-yadda-yadda with you.

A portion of our chit chat was about the relationship between Libertarians and Republicans. I think we pretty much agreed that the GOP would be wise to welcome Libertarian minded Republicans to the tent. As a result, Eric Dondero came up in conversation and Stacy encouraged me to send Dondero a big shout out. Mr. Dondero, consider yourself shouted.

The focus of all this Libertarian Republican talk was really an offshoot of a bigger issue – the building of a coalition to oppose Pelosi & Obama’s agenda and this has entirely to do with the conservative grassroots. The point? No more infighting. The grassroots tent has to include social conservatives, libertarians, Republicans, Tea Partiers, and other Americans of all backgrounds.

As Representative Paul Ryan of Wisconsin said in April 2009, “If you believe in freedom, liberty, self-determination, free enterprise, I don’t care if you’re a Muslim, Jewish, Agnostic, Christian, gay, straight, Latino, black, white, Irish, whatever. Join us.”

If together, we can stop ObamaCare, Cap & Trade and Card Check, American politics will be “a whole new ball game” to use Stacy’s words. I concur.

The libertarians need to stop bashing the neocons, the neocons need to stop trashing the Paulistas, the beltway pros need to stop trashing the grassroots and on and on…

Michael Steele, the head of the Republican National Committee, says he wants to build a big tent. Let’s give it to him.

We can start by working together. Let’s settle the small stuff after the 2010 elections.

Your Nanny State Superiors Know What’s Best for You America

Team O and our social betters in Washington know what's best for everyone. Energy Secretary Steven Chu really let the nanny state mask slip on this one.

Team O and our social betters in Washington know what’s best for everyone. Energy Secretary Steven Chu really let the nanny state mask slip on this one.

“When it comes to greenhouse-gas emissions, Energy Secretary Steven Chu sees Americans as unruly teenagers and the Administration as the parent that will have to teach them a few lessons.”

“The American public…just like your teenage kids, aren’t acting in a way that they should act,” Dr. Chu said. “The American public has to really understand in their core how important this issue is.”

And what’s at the center of Chu’s agenda? Cap & Trade and the stupid belief that “green jobs” are the key to our wounded economy.

“Asked if he expected a town-hall style pushback, Dr. Chu said he was optimistic the public would buy the administration’s arguments that energy efficiency and caps on greenhouse-gas emissions will spark an economic rebound.”

“I don’t think so…maybe I’m optimistic, but there’s very little debate” that a new green energy economy will bring economic prosperity, Mr. Chu told reporters.”

Steven Chu is just one more example of what’s wrong in Washington and one more example of the nanny staters who think they know what’s best for everyone. I’m reminded of Andrea Mitchell’s mask slip moment in July:

Bloomberg: US Budget Deficit Reaches Record High

What could possibly have caused this?

“Aug. 12 (Bloomberg) — The U.S. budget deficit reached a record for the first 10 months of the fiscal year and broke a monthly high for July as the recession curbed revenue and the government ramped up spending to rejuvenate the economy.”

“The shortfall so far for the fiscal year that ends Sept. 30 totaled $1.27 trillion compared with a $389 billion year-to-date gap in 2008, the Treasury said today in Washington. The excess of spending over revenue for July climbed to $180.7 billion compared with a $102.8 billion gap in July 2008 as the government spent more than in any month in U.S. history.”

Oh yeah…. It was this:
