Obama’s “Mission Accomplished” Moment

Obama has continued a number of policies from his predecessor, but now he even has a “Mission Accomplished” moment of his very own.

As reported by the Politico:

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — President Barack Obama has a new campaign slogan.

“Yes, we did.”

And it doesn’t stop there. Republicans, an animated Obama argued Thursday, wouldn’t have.

They wouldn’t have set the economy back on track, he said during a fundraiser for Senate candidate Robin Carnahan, or passed a health care overhaul or financial regulatory reform. Giving the GOP control of Congress again — a possibility that Obama acknowledged — would usher in another era of a “you’re on your own philosophy,” he said.

In which alternate reality is the president currently residing? The economy is back on track? You could have fooled me.

Republicans wouldn’t have passed Obamacare? That’s a feature not a bug, Mr. President.

Your on your own philosophy? You mean like the people of Arizona who wish the federal government would do its job and secure their border?

If this is your idea of “yes we did” maybe you could do us a favor next time.

Don’t.

ObamaCare Supporters Object to Usage of the Term ObamaCare When Discussing ObamaCare

There was some sort of ObamaCare dust up over at ABC’s Political Punch blog. Tommy Christopher at Mediaite has the full round-up…

This is what I get for skipping all those Partisan Whiners Anonymous meetings. Apparently, there are liberal whiners who think the term “Obamacare” is offensive, and conservative whiners who think the whining is a big deal. Specifically, liberal whiners objected to the use of the term on ABC’s Political Punch blog, so they changed it. Then, conservative whiners objected, saying Jake Tapper was “banning” the word from Political Punch. I’d like to gavel this meeting to order.

The only thing I find offensive about the term “Obamacare” is that it’s unimaginative. Opponents of health care reform in 1993 pushed back by calling it “Hillarycare.” In 17 years, they couldn’t come up with something more creative than that? I mean, there’s a better formula for “porn star names.”

So what would be a better name for ObamaCare? How about Death Panels? CommieCare? Universal Misery? Governmental Power-Grab Care?

Oh! I’ve got it. How about:

We-don’t-give-a-damn-what-the-people-think-we’re-doing-it-anyway-Care?

Public School Teacher Calls Student a “Tea Bagger” in Front of Class

Classy!

This story was broken by Bob McCarty.

In a nutshell, a public school teacher bases her final literature exam on the Michael Moore film, Sicko.

A conservative student, who also is a Tea Party member questions teacher’s decision.

Teacher to student in front of class: “Well, we all know you’re a ‘teabagger.”

Read the whole thing and watch McCarty’s video report below.

I Can See Death Panels From My House

Seriously. All I have to do is watch this video of Peter Orszag (Obama’s Director of the Office of Budget and Management) describing the Independent Payment Advisory Board, one of the many wonderful features of Obama’s new health care bill.

Follow this video to the end when these chilling words appear on the screen: “The Independent Payment Advisory Board created by the health care law will be composed of permanent unelected members.”

Dem House Leader – Hey, Sorry for Calling All You Peaceful Protesters “un-American” Last Year

Via Dave in Texas at AoSHQ. The Washington Times reports that Dem House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer is starting to figure out how monumentally screwed his party is come November…

House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer said Thursday he and Speaker Nancy Pelosi made a mistake when they called anti-health care protests “un-American” last year.

“That was not a good phrase, not a good use of language, it was not correct,” Mr. Hoyer, Maryland Democrat, said, adding that he did not see anything wrong with vigorous debating of philosophies.

In August, in the middle of a summer in which members of Congress were sometimes shouted down at town halls by constituents furious over the health care bill, Mr. Hoyer and Mrs. Pelosi wrote an op-ed article in USA Today decrying the tenor of the debate and complaining about baseless charges.

The leaders called the protests “an ugly campaign” and said it was clear some were trying to disrupt “a civil dialogue.”

“Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American,” the two wrote.

Apology not accepted.

House Speaker John Boehner has such a nice ring to it.

UPDATE: Here’s the real reason for Steny Hoyer’s crocodile-tear laden remorse:

Nationally-recognized election prognosticator Charlie Cook isn’t the only one who sees the majority for House Democrats slipping away. Today, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer agreed, but said that he and others will mount a strong campaign to try and convince the public that better times are right around the corner.

In his recent analysis, Cook suggested a 30-40 seat lost in November for House Democrats, adding it could be worse if the current anti-incumbent and anti-Democrat trend continues. Republicans need to pick up 41 seats to take back the majority.

Asked about it at a media breakfast hosted by the Christian Science Monitor today, Hoyer says, “It’s an accurate view of what the polls reflect right now.”

Gee, ya think?

Isn’t ObamaCare Supposed to REDUCE the Cost of Healthcare?

I mean, isn’t that what we were told for months and months? Yet now the Associated Press reports:

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul law will increase the nation’s health care tab instead of bringing costs down, government economic forecasters concluded Thursday in a sobering assessment of the sweeping legislation.

A report by economic experts at the Health and Human Services Department said the health care remake will achieve Obama’s aim of expanding health insurance — adding 34 million Americans to the coverage rolls.

But the analysis also found that the law falls short of the president’s twin goal of controlling runaway costs, raising projected spending by about 1 percent over 10 years. That increase could get bigger, however, since the report also warned that Medicare cuts in the law may be unrealistic and unsustainable, forcing lawmakers to roll them back.

Wow. Somebody give the Associated Press a freaking cigar for finally reporting what more than 50% of the American people have known all along.

War

War is exactly what Obama, Pelosi and Reid have declared on the American people.

It’s so sickening to hear Nancy Pelosi continually proclaiming that they have done something for the American people.

We all know that they did something to the American people.

When the overwhelming evidence in poll after poll after poll indicated that the majority of people in America didn’t want their healthcare legislation, it is just further insult to say they did it “for” the people.

It is further insult that Senior Staffers who wrote the bill, are exempt from it.

We will vote some of you out this November.

We will vote the rest of you out in November of 2012.

We will do it peacefully but make no mistake. We are coming for you.

200 People Show Up For Obama’s Big Health Care Rally in Ohio

Matt Mayer from the Buckeye Institute reports:

President Barack Obama, joined by Ohio governor Ted Strickland, came to Ohio today to continue his permanent campaign on health-care legislation. His campaign events during the 2008 presidential race attracted crowds of thousands of Ohioans; this time, President Obama managed a crowd of about 200 people. With his negative approval numbers in Ohio (44 percent approve, 52 percent disapprove), it isn’t much of a surprise that few showed up to hear him once again talk about health care.

If you read the whole article linked above, you’ll find that Ohioans are, like most Americans, more interested in the economy and jobs. A fact reinforced by this snippet from another report.

The president’s Strongsville speech began much the same as it did in Shaker Heights — with raucous cheers and applause.

“I love you,” someone shouted — the same as in July. “I love you back,” Obama said before he was introduced by the sister of a Medina County woman who won the president’s attention in recent weeks.

But this time, hecklers called out, “What’s your plan?” and “We want jobs,” during his speech. That didn’t happen last year.

Also consider that the fact that a certain Ohio Democrat decided not to show up…

Representative John Boccieri, Democrat of Ohio, whose vote on major health care legislation could be crucial to the outcome, will not be attending President Obama’s health care rally on Monday in Strongsville, Ohio, not far from Mr. Boccieri’s own district, a spokeswoman said.

Mr. Boccieri is focusing instead on a major infrastructure announcement this morning at Akron-Canton Airport, where the chief of the Federal Aviation Administration, Randy Babbitt, delivered a $16.6 million check for a runway extension and improvement project.

Of course, there was one group who showed up in big numbers. Protesters.
