HuffPo Called Katrina “Bush” Disaster, but BP Oil Mess is “America’s” Fault

This is fair reporting, right?

HuffPo then:

Dems on Bush’s Katrina Disaster

Congress’ top two Democrats furiously criticized the administration’s response to Hurricane Katrina on Wednesday, with Sen. Harry Reid demanding to know whether President Bush’s Texas vacation impeded relief efforts and Rep. Nancy Pelosi assailing the chief executive as “oblivious, in denial.”

HuffPo now:

America’s Pathetic Response

Shame on us.

A calamity is unfolding before our eyes – the greatest oil spill in history – and America’s response is little more than a big yawn.

No wonder Obama wants people to read the Huffington Post.

They don’t even seem to know President Obama spent yesterday playing golf.

WaPo Vs. HuffPo? Who Can Tell The Difference?

Ben Smith at The Politico asks the burning question that’s keeping everyone awake at night. Washington Post or Huffington Post?

The once-cautious Washington Post has begun to invest heavily in the liberal blogosphere, transforming its online presence – a combination of accident and design – into a competitor of the Huffington Post and TalkingPointsMemo as much as the New York Times.

The Post’s foray into the new media world received some unfavorable attention last weekend when its latest hire, Dave Weigel, who covers conservatives, referred to gay marriage foes as “bigots.” But the resulting controversy brought into relief a larger shift: The Post now hosts three of the strongest liberal blogs on the Internet, and draws a disproportionate share of its traffic and buzz from them, a significant change for a traditional newspaper that has struggled to remake itself.

Who can tell the difference? Has everyone forgotten that little incident in July of 2009 when the editor of the Washington Post was caught red handed selling access to the Obama Administration?

The Washington Post’s ill-fated plan to sell sponsorships of off-the-record “salons” was an ethical lapse of monumental proportions.

Publisher Katharine Weymouth and Executive Editor Marcus Brauchli have now taken full responsibility for what was envisioned as a series of 11 intimate dinners to discuss public policy issues. For a fee of up to $25,000, underwriters were guaranteed a seat at the table with lawmakers, administration officials, think tank experts, business leaders and the heads of associations.

Furthermore, it’s worthy to note that in a recent article by Byron York of the Washington Examiner, titled The Top 10 Dumbest Things Said About the Arizona Immigration Law, The Washington Post won the contest hands-down with 3 out of 10. Even The Huffington Post only scored a 1.

Robert Stacy McCain sums it up perfectly.

As long as you get the facts right, who gives a damn about “bias” or “favoritism”?

Favoritism from the Washington Post doesn’t count for much anyway.

Just ask Creigh Deeds.

Was Leboon The Loon a Huffington Poster?

Obama donor and generally batshit crazy leftist Norman Leboon has been arrested for making death threats to Republican Eric Cantor. Michelle Malkin has all the details here.

But some crafty internet searchers at Free Republic dug up this little morsel which I have screen capped for posterity.

Was Norman “The Loon” Leboon a HuffPoster? Sure looks that way. Click the image to enlarge.

The Huffington Post Finds Religion

Mediabistro reports that the Huffington Post is suddenly interested in religion. Hallelujah…

Today’s top story is an open letter from Raushenbush to “Religious (and sane) America.” In it, he promises that “HuffPost Religion will demonstrate the vibrant diversity of religious traditions, perspectives and experiences that exist alongside and inform one another in America and throughout the world.” He goes on to highlight the positive aspects of religion and — of course — invites users to submit content to the site. Below the article are images of books written by Raushenbush. Click on one, and a pop-up window invites you to buy it.

Other articles focus on the issues one typically sees addressed on the HuffPost, with a God angle tacked on. Examples: “Gays in the Military: A Religious Issue?”; “Judaism, Ethics, and Ecology”; and “The Great Recession: A Spiritual Crisis.”

In a statement announcing the launch, Arianna Huffington said, “All too often, when talking about it, we end up talking at each other instead of with each other.”

Off in the sidebar is one more link: “Elton John In ‘Parade’: Jesus Was Gay.”

Hmm…

I think I’ll stick with Beliefnet and DOGMATRON.

Remember When The Tea Parties Were Called “Astroturf?”

What the hell do you call this?

Astro“It’s not even noon on the West Coast and already Capitol Hill staffers say they’re getting nonstop calls from constituents in support of President Barack Obama’s health insurance reform. At about 2:15 EST, Organizing for America (OFA) surpassed it’s goal of 100,000 phone calls to Congress, each one imploring representatives to vote for reform.”

“The nationwide “Time to Deliver on Health Reform” event is the most massive outpouring of support from Obama supporters since Election Day 2008.”

Tea Partyers organize and they’re denounced as astroturf. Obots do it and then announce how proud they are of it.

Leftist Blogs Suddenly Concerned About the Race Card

Talking Points Memo, a lefty Obama worshiping blog is suddenly concerned about the political race card. Why? Because the black man they perceive to be playing said card is Republican Chairman Michael Steele. You see, it's only racism when Conservatives/Republicans/Libertarians point out their hypocrisy.

Talking Points Memo, a lefty Obama worshiping blog is suddenly concerned about the political race card. Why? Because the black man they perceive to be playing said card is Republican Chairman Michael Steele.

You see, it’s only racism when Conservatives/Republicans/Libertarians point out the hypocrisy of the left.

While I’m on this thread, let me point out that a genius from the Huffington Post named Matt Osborne penned a piece today which downplays Obama’s propaganda partnership with the NEA.

“Nevertheless, Courrielche argues that since art groups accept grants from the NEA, the NEA is “tainting the creative process by encouraging the art community to address highly controversial political issues.” Which is odd, since there’s nothing controversial about the 9/11 Day of Service — unless, of course, you happen to be a member of the Ayn Rand cult, or you think the day would best be used to inspire hatred and fear of brown people.”

Hatred and fear of “brown people?”

You scumbag. You hateful, fear politicking, scumbag.

You sir, are the racist. You sir, are the one who is trying to inspire fear and hatred based solely on race and purely for the furtherance of a political agenda. It is disgusting and you should be ashamed.

Mr. Osborne mentions in his bio: Matt Osborne has been blogging forever but has yet to see his first check from George Soros. Let me explain that for you Matt… You see the capitalist who owns the Huffington Post is keeping all of the capital for herself.

And by the way, I assume by the “Ayn Rand Cult” remark, that you were referring to Libertarians since you linked the term to Reason Magazine. I find it ironic when Obama supporters talk about “cults.”

They say a picture is worth a thousand Obots words.

Huffington Whore Thanks Glenn Beck for Van Jones Resignation

I'm a media whore!

arianna huffingtonArianna Huffington really wants you to read her pathetic blog. She wrote a post tonight where she thanked Glenn Beck for getting Van Jones fired. She claims this is great because it will make Van Jones more powerful.

Let us count the lies.

1. Glenn Beck did not get Van Jones fired. VAN JONES got Van Jones fired.

2. If it’s so great that Van Jones is out, then why are all of Arianna’s UNPAID writers at the HuffPo screaming raaaaacism over Jones’s resignation?

3. Arianna Huffington is just like Michael Moore. She demonizes Capitalism while she uses Capitalism to make herself very wealthy, which is why she is trying to drive readership to her blog!

4. She WISHES she had the influence of Glenn Beck which is why she is trying to make this all about him.

5. If Arianna cares so much about the “common people” then why doesn’t she give away all the profits she makes from the HuffPo? She’s independently wealthy! Why not spread her own wealth?

I’m not going to link to her pathetic blog but I’ll give you the basic meaning behind her post…

Huffington Post Suggests Mary Jo Kopechne’s Death Was Justified by Ted Kennedy’s Senate Career

I am at a loss for words.

Mary Jo KopechneI am at a loss for words.

Huffpo:

“We don’t know how much Kennedy was affected by her death, or what she’d have thought about arguably being a catalyst for the most successful Senate career in history. What we don’t know, as always, could fill a Metrodome.”

“Still, ignorance doesn’t preclude a right to wonder. So it doesn’t automatically make someone (aka, me) a Limbaugh-loving, aerial-wolf-hunting NRA troll for asking what Mary Jo Kopechne would have had to say about Ted’s death, and what she’d have thought of the life and career that are being (rightfully) heralded.”

“Who knows — maybe she’d feel it was worth it.”

SCANDAL: Obama Administration in Bed With Big Drug Lobbyists Reports… THE HUFFINGTON POST???

exploding-head3This is the second time this week I’ve been pleasantly surprised by reporting at the Huffington Post. They’ve obtained a memo which points to an unholy union between the White House and the pharmaceutical lobby and they are not happy about it:

“A memo obtained by the Huffington Post confirms that the White House and the pharmaceutical lobby secretly agreed to precisely the sort of wide-ranging deal that both parties have been denying over the past week.”

“The memo, which according to a knowledgeable health care lobbyist was prepared by a person directly involved in the negotiations, lists exactly what the White House gave up, and what it got in return.”

“It says the White House agreed to oppose any congressional efforts to use the government’s leverage to bargain for lower drug prices or import drugs from Canada — and also agreed not to pursue Medicare rebates or shift some drugs from Medicare Part B to Medicare Part D, which would cost Big Pharma billions in reduced reimbursements.”

“In exchange, the Pharmaceutical Researchers and Manufacturers Association (PhRMA) agreed to cut $80 billion in projected costs to taxpayers and senior citizens over ten years. Or, as the memo says: “Commitment of up to $80 billion, but not more than $80 billion.”

“Critics on Capitol Hill and online responded with outrage at the reports that Obama had gone behind their backs and sold the reform movement short. Furthermore, the deal seemed to be a betrayal of several promises made by then-Sen. Obama during the presidential campaign, among them that he would use the power of government to drive down the costs of drugs to Medicare and that negotiations would be conducted in the open.”

Be sure to read the whole thing and then read these reports from Ace of Spades HQ and Hot Air.

You should also watch this 2008 campaign video from then Senator Obama.

Huffington Post: The Southern Poverty Law Center Has Become a Hate Group

Strong words. Even stronger (and weirder) considering the source.

The writer, Carol Swain, is making a point about the decision of Eric Holder and the Department of Justice decision to “quietly” dismiss the case against the New Black Panther Party for voter intimidation at the polls last November in Philadelphia. The Washington Times reported:

“The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights is expected to approve Friday the sending of a second letter to the Justice Department, asking it to justify its decision in May to drop charges against members of the New Black Panther Party accused of intimidating voters at a Philadelphia polling place in the November election.”

The HuffPo writer makes the following points:

“Video footage shot in 2008, show Black Panther precinct workers intimidating white voters. This was covered by the news organizations, and resulted in charges being filed by the Bush Department of Justice, whose job it is to defend and protect the voting rights of all Americans.”

“What should have been an open and shut case has become something more troubling, after the Eric Holder-led Justice Department dropped charges against the Black Panthers, who supported President Obama. Currently, this decision to drop the charges, is being challenged by the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, (an organization with which I am affiliated).”

“The SPLC has been mum on the issue, despite the fact that in 2000, it included the New Black Panther Party among its annual list of hate groups. In fact, what is most shocking is that the SPLC has spent far more resources hounding conservative organizations, such as the Center for Immigration Studies, and prominent citizens like CNN’s award-winning anchor Lou Dobbs, than it has protecting the civil rights of American voters, which includes white people as well as black.”

The writer goes on to make her final and most damning point using the term “mission creep” which she explains well.

“There is a name for what has happened. It is called “mission creep.” Mission creep occurs when an organization strays beyond its original purpose and engages in actions antithetical to its goals. Rather than monitoring hate groups, the Southern Poverty Law Center has become one.”

I have to add a point to this story specifically about our AG Eric Holder. It is especially curious that such a case would be dismissed by him considering that he called America, the country he serves, “a nation of cowards.”

To Mr. Holder I say speak for yourself, pal.

Finally, I never thought I’d agree with a writer at the HuffPo but I have to admit that for once, I do.

Well done, Ms. Swain.
