Against your will, the United States Senate voted for cloture on ObamaCare at 1 AM on December 21, 2009. They didn’t meet last night to create jobs. They didn’t meet last night for the economy. They didn’t meet last night for national security.

They met last night to take away your liberty.

Mara Liasson is an NPR political correspondent who frequently appears as a panelist on the FOX News channel program Special Report. NPR has decided it doesn’t like that.

“Executives at National Public Radio recently asked the network’s top political correspondent, Mara Liasson, to reconsider her regular appearances on Fox News because of what they perceived as the network’s political bias, two sources familiar with the effort said.”

“According to a source, Liasson was summoned in early October by NPR’s executive editor for news, Dick Meyer, and the network’s supervising senior Washington editor, Ron Elving. The NPR executives said they had concerns that Fox’s programming had grown more partisan, and they asked Liasson to spend 30 days watching the network.”

At a follow-up meeting last month, Liasson reported that she’d seen no significant change in Fox’s programming and planned to continue appearing on the network, the source said.

“NPR’s focus on Liasson’s work as a commentator on Fox’s “Special Report” and “Fox News Sunday” came at about the same time as a White House campaign launched in September to delegitimize the network by painting it as an extension of the Republican Party.”

Back in February of this year, the same exact thing happened to NPR’s Juan Williams.

“Williams brings a valuable viewpoint to NPR. Sometimes it is that of an African-American, but it is also that of someone with a long track record of covering politics. Some think he is a conservative because he’s on Fox. Others think Fox uses him as a liberal voice because, whether true or not, a perception exists that NPR is liberal.”

“The assets that make Williams valuable to NPR are his knowledge, his perspective and that he is rarely predictable.”

“But in the end, NPR must decide — as it apparently already has — whether giving its listeners the benefit of Williams’ voice is worth the cost of annoying some listeners for his work on Fox.”

“As a result of this latest flap, NPR’s Vice President of News, Ellen Weiss, has asked Williams to ask that Fox remove his NPR identification whenever he is on O’Reilly.”

ANSWER: They attack the people they perceive to be the leaders of their opposition. Even if they’re not elected officials.

As the left finds itself unable to defend Barack Obama’s decision to send 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan, they’re in a desperate scramble to somehow blame ANYONE but Obama for the decision.

Who are the most obvious targets? To whom can the left quickly assign blame for the failure of their elected leaders?

The Democrats created this beast behind closed doors and unveiled it today at an event in a public space which they opened only to their supporters.

A staffer for Republican Congressman Eric Cantor was even turned away by a Capital Hill cop who said she was under orders from the Speaker’s office to bar him from the event. Sound unbelievable? Here’s the video:

They were secretive about the bill’s creation and they’re being exclusive about who can attend the unveiling.

Yet we are to believe that they are acting in the interest of all the citizens of America.

This bill has nothing to do with compassion. This is about power and the lengths Pelosi and the Democrats will go to get it, to the ultimate ruin of us all.

Last time I checked, Oregon was part of the United States which leads one to the obvious question… Who among us is offended by the American flag???

“It floored me,” he said. “I can’t believe she was saying what she was saying.”

“Even long-time residents like Sharron White, who has flown a flag on her car for eight years, has been told to take it down.”

“White said management told her that “someone might get offended.”

“I just said to her ‘They’ll just have to get over it,’” White said.”

“Resident we talked to who had been approached to take down their flags all told us the same thing: that management told them the flags could be offensive because they live in a diverse community.”

This really beats all.

Our elected representatives are repeatedly pushing legislation against the will of the majority.

Children are singing songs about Obama in public schools where Christmas carols have been outlawed.

And now Americans can’t fly the United States flag in our own country for fear of offending people?

Really? Really???

I am offended. Deeply offended.

I am getting more offended by the day.

Hey why not? We already know sodas are going to be taxed in the name of “progress.”

Why not ban hamburgers?

“(CNN) — Hamburgers are an American passion. And millions of Americans consume burgers, and other forms of meat, every day without consequences.”

“But ground beef contaminated with E. coli bacteria has sickened, paralyzed and even killed some people who ate it.”

“On Monday night’s “Larry King Live,” a wide range of guests joined an in-depth and spirited debate to answer this question: Should meat, and most specifically hamburgers, be a part of the American diet?”

“One person who has said “no” to burgers is Bill Marler, an expert on foodborne illness litigation. Marler has been litigating on this issue since the Jack in the Box E. coli outbreak in 1993.”

“Since the Jack in the Box case, I’ve never had a hamburger,” Marler said. “I have three daughters — 17, 14 and 10 — and they’ve never had a hamburger.”

Here’s the Center for Disease Control on E. coli…

“We reviewed E. coli O157 outbreaks reported to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to better understand the epidemiology of E. col O157. E. coli O157 outbreaks reported to CDC from 1982 to 2002 were reviewed. In that period, 49 states reported 350 outbreaks, representing 8,598 cases, 1,493 (17%) hospitalizations, 354 (4%) hemolytic uremic syndrome cases, and 40 (0.5%) deaths.”

40 deaths in 20 years.

If you read CNN’s entire article, they take great pains to tell a few (truly) sad stories of people who had to deal with an illness or even a death due to E. coli but the statistics from the CDC don’t bear out a ban on hamburgers any more than a ban on crossing the street.

Of course CNN rounds out their article with the money line, pushing the theory once again, that government is the answer to the problem.

“King asked Marler how the average person was to process the conflicting advice, especially with stories such as Smith’s making news.”

“I think what the lay person needs to do is spend a little bit more time putting pressure on their congressmen and senators to pass some food safety legislation that’s been hung up in the House and the Senate,” Marler said.”

As I think about it, I am actually angry at CNN for even writing this article.
