Can We Start Calling the MSM the “Press Corpse” Now?

I mean, since President Obama is referring to a Navy man as a member of the “corpse”, why not? I’m betting Obama would never refer to the press corps as the press “corpse.”

Allahpundit at Hot Air does a good job explaining why this is resonating with many Obama critics.

Meet the Newest FOX News Analyst

Governor Sarah Palin.

Former Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska has signed on as a contributor to the Fox News Channel.

The network confirmed that Ms. Palin will appear on the network’s programming on a regular basis as part of a multi-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Ms. Palin will not have her own regular program, one person familiar with the deal said, though she will host an occasional series that will run on the network from time to time. This person would not elaborate, but the network does have a precedent for such a series. Oliver L. North is the host of an occasionally running documentary series on the military called “War Stories.”

Many suspected that when Ms. Palin retired as the governor of Alaska last summer she was doing so to pursue some sort of career in television. The Fox News deal, however, would not seem to be all encompassing, and would appear to give her room for other pursuits, as well.

If Palin’s deal with FOX is for more than a few years, we can probably rule out a presidential run in 2012. That news would please some and disappoint others but one thing is for sure. We’re going to be seeing a lot more of Sarah Palin on TV.

How Bad Are Things for Obama?

So bad that lefty journalist Jack Cafferty of CNN is asking his readers “What Can President Obama Learn From Sarah Palin?”

“With President Obama now below 50 percent approval for the first time, New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd suggests the president could learn “a thing or three” from Sarah Palin.”

“Dowd writes that with the former V-P candidate back on the trail for her book tour, she clearly hasn’t boned up on anything and “she still has that Yoda-like syntax.”

“Meanwhile – it’s clear Sarah Palin is saying something people want to hear. She sold 300,000 copies of her memoir on the day of its release – one of the best openings ever for a nonfiction book, easily topping people like Hillary Clinton.”

“As for President Obama – the Gallup Daily Tracking poll puts his approval rating at 49 percent – the first time he’s dropped below 50 percent since taking office.”

“Here’s my question to you: What can President Obama learn from Sarah Palin?”

Here are a few of the choice quotes Jack Cafferty featured on the air and my responses:

Audrey from British Columbia:
He could learn that by being ignorant, vapid, divisive and stupid that the media will follow you around and make out that you are bigger and better than you really are. Sarah Palin is a “media phenom” and nothing else – just the fact that you have this question on your program should state the obvious to you.

ME:
You’re right Audrey. It’s too bad that the media doesn’t follow Obama around making him out to be bigger than he is. President Obama certainly isn’t a “media phenom.”

Chad from Alaska:
How to be a quitter in the middle of a term.

ME:
Good point Chad. At least Obama finished a single term as a US Senator before running for president. Oh wait.. He didn’t do that, did he?

Lisa says:
How to make bumper sticker catch-phrases sound like policy to 26% of the nation.

ME:
Lisa, do you mean empty catch-phrases like “Yes We Can?”

Thomas from Texas:
Not to wear shorts on the cover of news magazines if you are to be taken seriously as a politician.

ME:
Thomas, did no one at CNN tell you that Sarah Palin didn’t choose to have that photo on the cover of Newsweek? No, of course they didn’t.

Just a reminder… CNN is in last place among cable news networks.

Any wonder why?

New Series “V” Will Hold a Mirror Up To The Obots

The new TV series “V”, which is actually a remake of a 1980’s miniseries, debuts tonight on ABC at 8 pm. While the series will follow the storyline of the original – aliens come to Earth looking like nice people but turn out to be people eating lizards – the remake has a rather “yes we can” flavor to it.

TV critic and libertarian Glenn Garvin writes:

“Imagine this. At a time of political turmoil, a charismatic, telegenic new leader arrives virtually out of nowhere. He offers a message of hope and reconciliation based on compromise and promises to marshal technology for a better future that will include universal health care.”

“The news media swoons in admiration — one simpering anchorman even shouts at a reporter who asks a tough question: “Why don’t you show some respect?!!” The public is likewise smitten, except for a few nut cases who circulate batty rumors on the Internet about the leader’s origins and intentions. The leader, undismayed, offers assurances that are soothing, if also just a tiny bit condescending: “Embracing change is never easy.”

“So, does that sound like anyone you know? Oh, wait — did I mention the leader is secretly a totalitarian space lizard who’s come here to eat us?”

“Welcome to ABC’s V, the final, the most fascinating and bound to be the most controversial new show of the fall television season. Nominally a rousing sci-fi space opera about alien invaders bent on the conquest (and digestion) of all humanity, it’s also a barbed commentary on Obamamania that will infuriate the president’s supporters and delight his detractors.”

And right on cue, the ever snarky Obama-loving gossip site Gawker is already denouncing the show.

Brian Moylan writes:

“…There’s even a religious rebel named Father Jack, which is basically an anagram of George W. Bush.”

“The birthers will be lapping up a show about a foreign-born president who comes to snatch society out of their clutches, and Glenn Back (spelling anyone?) and his cronies will love to see a media that is overtaken by liberals and keeps the truth away from the “real Americans.” But what will everyone else think?”

“We find it hard to believe that thinly-veiIed conservative propaganda will find a strong foothold with the core sci-fi audience, and as for those leaning to the right, they tend to like their entertainment much more straightforward.”

But the real money quote from Gawker comes at the end…

“Our prognosis, keep picking on the president and the only letters that V will get are D.O.A.”

Awww. Does it make you angwy when people make fun of the pwesident, Bwian?

Here’s the trailer for the show:

VIDEO: Laura Ingraham Smacks Down the White House and the Media

Appearing on yesterday’s “This Week” with George Step-on-all-of-us, Ingraham smacked down Charles Gibson for not knowing about the ACORN scandal and the White House for going after FOX News more agressively than they’re pursuing terrorists.

This is classic Laura Ingraham and pure poetry.

New York Times Cutting 100 Newsroom Employees

The New York Times continues its downward spiral:

“The New York Times plans to eliminate 100 newsroom jobs — about 8 percent of the total — by year’s end, offering buyouts to union and non-union employees, and resorting to layoffs if it cannot get enough people to leave voluntarily, the paper announced on Monday.”

I feel bad for the employees as Americans who are losing their jobs but I can’t resist pointing out that FOX News is hiring.

No One in the Media Gets Glenn Beck

Everyone in the media wants a piece of Glenn Beck. They want him for ratings, they want him for web hits. How else do you explain the fact that Gawker, although it’s a very liberal outlet, writes about Beck daily?

Time Magazine? Beck is currently on the cover.

Beck makes weekly appearances on The O’Reilly Factor. He’s been a guest on Greta. He’s on Fox & Friends at least once a week.

EVERYONE in the media wants a piece of Glenn Beck but very few of the other people in the media seem to get Glenn Beck.

Peter Wehner, a conservative writer at Commentary Magazine, penned a poorly informed piece on Beck today warning that Beck is bad for Conservatives.

He claims that Beck is a spinner of conspiracy theories. Wrong. Beck is a disprover of conspiracy theories. He exposed the ridiculous stories about FEMA camps for what they are: ridiculous.

Is Wehner talking about the fact that Beck often discusses Obama’s ties to ACORN, the Apollo Foundation and members of the Weather Underground? Newsflash Mr. Wehner, those aren’t conspiracy theories, they’re proven and true.

Is it a conspiracy that there was a 9/11 Truther and self described Marxist in Obama’s White House? Well that conspiracy kinda led to the resignation of Van Jones. Are we imagining these things or are they really happening?

Wehner says Beck is too “Libertarian.” Well what the hell is wrong with that? Is it wrong to be a Conservative Libertarian? If a person is a Conservative Libertarian, are they automatically a rabid Ron Paul supporter? Guess what… Ron Paul is not wrong about everything. Many people who don’t count themselves “Ron Paul supporters” agree with Paul on a great many things, particularly liberty and the out of control spending in Washington.

Besides, lots of Libertarians vote Republican, particularly the Conservative ones.

Now the latest person to want a piece of Glenn Beck is Katie Couric. Can you blame her? People might actually watch her show if Glenn Beck is her interview subject. Beck is going to be on her new web show @Katie Couric tomorrow, 9/22 at 7 pm. Here’s a clip from the show which is already making big waves on the blogosphere. Why? Because Beck says he might have voted for Hillary over McCain, then says Obama is better for the country than McCain. Watch:

Watch CBS Videos Online

Shocking, isn’t it?

How can Beck say such a thing?!

I think I know what Beck is saying. I think he’s saying that if McCain were elected we never would have had such a revival of Conservative Libertarian thought in this country as we’ve seen with the Tea Parties and the town hall protests. Would McCain have been better on foreign policy and defense? Absolutely. Would McCain have been better on spending? Tough to say.

If Obama has done anything well, he woke up American conservatism with an air raid siren and maybe got a few more Conservatives interested in real small government ideals which are supposed to be part of the GOP’s core.

I’ll use this opportunity to address Mr. Wehner’s last concern about Glenn Beck. He isn’t comfortable with Beck saying there’s no difference between the parties. On that I’ll just simply point out that as long as Republicans don’t mind bigger government and bigger spending, Glenn Beck is right. There is no difference.

Oh, sorry. Is my Libertarianism showing?
