Bloomberg: US Budget Deficit Reaches Record High

What could possibly have caused this?

“Aug. 12 (Bloomberg) — The U.S. budget deficit reached a record for the first 10 months of the fiscal year and broke a monthly high for July as the recession curbed revenue and the government ramped up spending to rejuvenate the economy.”

“The shortfall so far for the fiscal year that ends Sept. 30 totaled $1.27 trillion compared with a $389 billion year-to-date gap in 2008, the Treasury said today in Washington. The excess of spending over revenue for July climbed to $180.7 billion compared with a $102.8 billion gap in July 2008 as the government spent more than in any month in U.S. history.”

Oh yeah…. It was this:

Democrats Lied About Support For Obama’s Budget???

I am shocked, SHOCKED…

“Democrats fired up their campgaign machine weeks back to trumpet the Obama budget asking 13 million of the president’s campaign troops to enlist in a new effort.”

“Yesterday – these supporters (via the DNC) supposedly brought more than 640,000 petitions to the Capitol. BUT — that’s not quite accurate. As reported by the Post, and confirmed by Fox, the Obamaniacs actually made 3 copies of each petition.”

“One senior Senate GOP leadership aide pounced, telling Fox, “That’s less than 1% of their vaunted e-mail list. That’s not a high rate of return. Every major news organization covered their event two Saturday’s ago. They had the President do a web video. They did training videos. But more people wrote in to ask marijuana questions at the online forum at the White House!”

Next you’ll tell me that Barney Frank and Chris Dodd were largely responsible for America’s economic meltdown.

How preposterous!

Bloomberg Calls Obama a “Manchurian Candidate”

manchuriancandidate

If you’re not familiar with the Manchurian Candidate, it’s a political thriller novel written by Richard Condon in 1959. A film adaptation was first made in 1962 and then remade in 2004.

It’s about the infiltration and attempted overthrowing of the United States Government by communists. Any conspiracy theorists reading this will appreciate that the 1962 film was written by George Axelrod. Hmmmm….

Today, the financial news service Bloomberg referred to the president as a “Manchurian Candidate” citing what many are beginning to see as Obama’s war on business.

“It is no wonder that markets are imploding around us. Obama is giving us the War on Business.

Imagine that some hypothetical enemy state spent years preparing a “Manchurian Candidate” to destroy the U.S. economy once elected. What policies might that leader pursue?

He might discourage private capital from entering the financial sector by instructing his Treasury secretary to repeatedly promise a brilliant rescue plan, but never actually have one. Private firms, spooked by the thought of what government might do, would shy away from transactions altogether. If the secretary were smooth and played rope-a-dope long enough, the whole financial sector would be gone before voters could demand action.”

While we hope the writer is wrong, it’s certainly not a huge leap to make. Consider Obama’s actions while the US economy tanks. What has he done? Attacked Rush Limbaugh. Attacked Jim Cramer and Rick Santelli. Tried to expand spending and the size of government. Tried to lay the foundation for nationalized health care. What do any of these things have to do with revitalizing the economy?

Nothing.

The American economy is a house that is burning down. Rather than just pointing a fire hose at the house, Obama is telling us the house needs different furniture and a new landscaping architect.

Obama White House Continues to Personally Attack Critics

rush32First the President personally attacked the conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh. Shortly after taking office, Obama launched an unprovoked offensive against Limbaugh, telling Republican officials on Capitol Hill:

“You can’t just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done.”

Then the White House press secretary Robert Gibbs personally attacked CNBC reporter Rick Santelli for calling out the shameful spending of the so-called Stimulus Bill. An act that has inspired a new Tea Party movement of dissent.

Gibbs went after Santelli on an eerily personal level saying:santelli

“I’ve watched Mr. Santelli on cable the past 24 hours or so. I’m not entirely sure where Mr. Santelli lives or in what house he lives…”

Now White House press secretary Robert Gibbs is personally attacking Jim Cramer of the Mad Money TV show for speaking out about the Obama administration’s destruction of American wealth. Cramer accurately pointed out that the Obama administration is acting like amateur hour. How does the Obama White House react? By attacking Jim Cramer of course! Robert Gibbs went after Cramer saying:

“I’m not entirely sure what he’s pointing to to make some of the statements,” said Gibbs. “And you can go back and look at any number of statements he’s made in the past about the economy and wonder where some of the back-up for those are too.”

cramerSo is this how it’s going to be for the next four years? Speak out against the Obama administration and the president releases the hounds?

Is this what Obama was talking about when he spoke of “change?”

Attack anyone who dissents on a personal level?

No wonder the media is in the tank for Obama. They must be scared shitless.

It’s Obama’s Economy Now

wsjgraphAs the market plunges deeper by the week, more and more people are beginning to realize that it is President Obama’s agenda and proposed policies that are in effect, killing the economy of this country.

Take this article from today’s Wall Street Journal, subtitled “As the DOW Keeps Dropping, the President is Running Out of People to Blame.”

“Americans have welcomed the Obama era in the same spirit of hope the President campaigned on. But after five weeks in office, it’s become clear that Mr. Obama’s policies are slowing, if not stopping, what would otherwise be the normal process of economic recovery. From punishing business to squandering scarce national public resources, Team Obama is creating more uncertainty and less confidence — and thus a longer period of recession or subpar growth.”

Welcome to reality Obama. You cannot grow an economy by punishing the people who provide the fuel on which it runs.

The Washington Times also took a major swipe at the White House today with an article titled “Obama Lied, the Economy Died.”

“George W. Bush didn’t lie about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. He was merely mistaken. Whereas President Obama told a whopper last week when he claimed he was not for bigger government. As he said Tuesday night: “As soon as I took office, I asked this Congress to send me a recovery plan by President’s Day that would put people back to work and put money in their pockets. Not because I believe in bigger government – I don’t.”

“If President Obama were to try to misrepresent his positions for the next four years, there would be nothing he could say that would approach the inaccuracy of his claim last week that he is not for big government. It is the essence of the man and his presidency. He doesn’t like America the way it has been since its founding – and it will take an abusively big government to realize his dreams of converting America into something quite different.”

Those of us who are old enough to remember Ronald Reagan recall his famous proclamation that government was the problem and not the solution. This why we laughed at the media when they called Obama Reagan-esque as he stood there and said that only government can solve our current problems.

You don’t have to be a community organizer with a degree from Harvard to know that the economy would be a lot better off if the president would just shut his mouth and get out of the way.

Remember When McCain Said “I Will Make Them Famous”?

During the 2008 campaign, one of McCain’s favorite talking points was “I will make them famous.” He was referring to legislators who would try to pass bills containing wasteful pork and earmarks. See the short video below from last October:

Well, apparently McCain wasn’t kidding. Politico is reporting that McCain lashed out at Obama today on the Senate floor.

“Minutes after hitting the Senate floor Monday, the bill touched off a fierce, emotional attack from the president’s old rival, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who lectured Obama for failing to do more to stand up against the thousands of spending earmarks in the 1,132 pages.”

Awesome. At least one guy who ran for president is keeping his promises. Too bad we didn’t elect him.

Glenn Beck: Obama and Democrats are Trying to Control Which Charities Get Funding

Through the so-called “Stimulus Bill” of course.

Obama thinks he and Nancy Pelosi could do a better job with your charitable giving than you can. Furthermore, there is legislation in the Stimulus Bill which penalizes charitable giving.

This is a disgrace. America is the most charitable country in the world.

A Blatant Lie Among Many

Tonight in his address to congress President Obama said:

“As soon as I took office, I asked this Congress to send me a recovery plan by President’s Day that would put people back to work and put money in their pockets. Not because I believe in bigger government – I don’t.”

This comment arrives after the passage of the largest spending bill in American history, mired in the expansion of government programs and Democrat pet projects.

The words that come to mind are bull and shit.

Rich Lowry of National Review takes a higher road and makes a more urgent point HERE.
