Liberals Are OK With Using Prayer to Push ObamaCare?

American leftists are quick to cry foul when they see any combination of religion and politics on the conservative side, but it's a different story if religion can be used to promote their agenda.

American leftists are quick to cry foul when they see any combination of religion and politics on the conservative side, but it’s a different story if religion can be used to promote their agenda.

Case in point? Liberals recently held faith based “prayer vigils” in favor of ObamaCare at Senator Joe Lieberman’s house in Connecticut…

Talking Points Memo:

“A growing number Connecticut’s religious leaders are calling on Sen. Joe Lieberman to appeal to a higher power and change his mind about including a public option in a health care reform bill. Last night, hundreds of reform supporters from congregations across the state held a candlelight vigil outside Lieberman’s home in Stamford, CT.”

SEIU:

On Sunday, members of the Connecticut faith community staged a candlelight vigil outside Sen. Joe Lieberman’s home in Connecticut. The Stamford Advocate reported, “clergy from several religious dominations prayed in three languages outside the fourth-term senator’s home, surrounded by a crowd the Fire Marshal’s Office estimated to number nearly 500.”

My Left Nutmeg:

“This has to send a potent message to Lieberman. The symbolism is simply stunning. Rabbis protesting outside Joe Lieberman’s home in Stamford? Dan Malloy? Who thought they’d ever see this happening?”

Connecticut Bob:

“Over 500 clergy, parishioners, and residents attended a prayer vigil outside the Stamford home of Sen. Joe Lieberman last night to protest the senator’s promise to block a vote on health care reform.”

Huffington Post:

“More than 400 Connecticut residents, health care reform advocates, and clergy attended an evening prayer vigil that began at Senator Joe Lieberman’s Alma Mater, Stamford High School.”

This is a typical double standard which everyone remembers from the 2008 presidential election.

Sarah Palin’s religious beliefs were continually twisted into lies:

“Three months before she was thrust into the national political spotlight, Gov. Sarah Palin was asked to handle a much smaller task: addressing the graduating class of commission students at her one-time church, Wasilla Assembly of God. Speaking before the Pentecostal church, Palin painted the current war in Iraq as a messianic affair in which the United States could act out the will of the Lord.”

Yet Obama’s documented radical religious connections were no problem at all:

“Of all the strange features of this presidential race, the tarnishing of Barack Obama has got to be the most ridiculous. First Obama was accused of anti-religious elitism. Then he was accused of identifying with the underclass anger of his spiritual mentor. Excuse me, but which is it? Start with Obama’s turbulent preacher. Yes, Jeremiah Wright says some disgraceful things. But can anyone explain how that changes Obama’s qualities as a candidate?”

You guys on the left have no business holding “prayer vigils” for ObamaCare or anything else for that matter.

Don’t think this will be forgotten when you’re thrown out of power.

Back in the Bizarro World… William Ayers and Reverend Wright Hold “Peace Rally”

How’s this for a joke? A terrorist and an anti-Semite walk into a “peace” rally…

“The day before President Barack Obama was to meet with Israel’s prime minister, community activists, clergy and residents marched through Oak Park on Sunday to call for a just solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.”

“And they were led in their efforts by a politically provocative pair from Chicago: Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. and William Ayers.”

“When he was running for the presidency, Obama was dogged by the two figures: Wright, Obama’s former pastor, with his fiery words from the pulpit of Trinity United Church of Christ, and Ayers, for his radical past as a leader in the 1960s and 1970s of the violent Weather Underground group.”

You know what’s even funnier than that? The first reader comment after the article from “Mario” in Illinois:

“Why do you keep associating wright and ayers with obama? obama already said he barely knew these people…and had already thrown wright under the bus and disowned ayers. let’s not give these 2 twerps anymore importance.”

Yeah Mario, you’re right. It’s “the media” that keeps associating Obama with Ayers and Wright. Obama bears absolutely no responsibility for his relationship to these two scumbags.

Keep telling yourself that.

Wikipedia Attack Dogs Prevent Mentions of Ayers and Rev. Wright on Obama Entry

ayers1The editors of Wikipedia are carefully protecting President Obama’s entry on the site and actively deleting any information they deem negative. Writers from the conservative publication World Net Daily added information about William Ayers and Reverend Wright to the official Obama article on Wikipedia this weekend, fully supported by legitimate news sources only to find their additions deleted minutes later and their user accounts suspended for three days. WND reported yesterday:

“The entire Wikipedia entry on Obama seems to be heavily promotional toward the U.S. president. It contains nearly no criticism or controversy, including appropriate mention of important issues where relevant.

For example, the current paragraph on Obama’s religion contains no mention of Wright, even though Obama’s association with the controversial pastor was one of the most talked about issues during the presidential campaign.

That paragraph states: “Obama explained how, through working with black churches as a community organizer while in his twenties, he came to understand ‘the power of the African-American religious tradition to spur social change.’ He was baptized at the Trinity United Church of Christ in 1988 and was an active member there for two decades.”wright

Ayers is also not mentioned, even where relevant.

WND monitored as a Wikipedia user attempted to add Ayers’ name to an appropriate paragraph. One of those additions, backed up with news articles, read as follows:

“He served alongside former Weathermen leader William Ayers from 1994 to 2002 on the board of directors of the Woods Fund of Chicago, which in 1985 had been the first foundation to fund the Developing Communities Project, and also from 1994 to 2002 on the board of directors of the Joyce Foundation. Obama served on the board of directors of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge from 1995 to 2002, as founding president and chairman of the board of directors from 1995 to 1991. Ayers was the founder and director of the Challenge.”

Within two minutes that Wikipedia entry was deleted and the user banned from posting on the website for three days, purportedly for adding “Point of View junk edits,” even though the addition was well-established fact.”

The article goes on to mention that as you may suspect, the Wikipedia entry for George W. Bush is highly critical and chock full of negative information.
