When Did Roger Ebert Become Such an Asshole?

My apologies for the profanity in the title but there’s just no other way to say it. Roger Ebert has become a real major asshole and I don’t think I know when it happened.

When I was a kid, Roger Ebert was a chubby likable guy who sat in a TV studio made to look like a movie theater audience and talked about movies with his now deceased business partner Gene Siskel.

The Roger Ebert of today is a venomous victim of Bush Derangement Syndrome, Palin Derangement Syndrome and Tea Party Hatred Disorder all wrapped up in one. Does he even care about movies anymore?

Today, Ebert snidely Tweeted out: Tea-Baggers: How do you score on this civics and literacy test?

When Scott Brown won the Massachusetts senate race, Ebert obnoxiously Twittered: Massachusetts to Teddy: “F–k You.”

On January 14th, Ebert published an article in which he suggested Rush Limbaugh should be “horse whipped.”

“You should be horse-whipped for the insult you have paid to the highest office of our nation.”

Who is this asshole and what has he done with Roger Ebert the film critic?

Pam Meister at Big Hollywood notes that Ebert is alienating many of his own fans.

Did Ebert stop to consider how many of those ”teabaggers” might be Ebert fans who follow him on Twitter? I wonder how many of them read his movie reviews for guidance on their entertainment choices. But like so many of the entertainment world elite, if you disagree with him, you’re a dumbkopf who deserves to be insulted, regardless of whether or not you are a consumer of his product.

David Horowitz of NewsRealBlog notices that Ebert’s politics have even worked their way into his reviews.

But like the rest of the liberal press since the Bush Administration, Ebert has become more openly partisan, and his reviews—still published under the aegis of the Chicago Sun Times and syndicated to places which have eliminated film critics like my hometown newspaper The Flint Journal– are often nothing but political lectures.

There are many times when someone can “dial it back” when they realize they’ve gone too far. I don’t think Ebert has any plans to do that but it wouldn’t matter for me anyway.

I don’t know what happened to Roger.

Thumbs down.

Limbaugh and Malkin Warn Republicans To Stay Away From Obama’s Health Care Summit

President Obama has invited Republicans to a health care summit but influential conservatives such as Michelle Malkin and Rush Limbaugh are warning the GOP that it could be a trap.

First, Michelle Malkin says:

Please.

The White House spends a full year trashing Republicans for having no ideas on health care reform.

The White House spend a full year promising transparency while subverting it.

And now, after a year’s worth of closed backroom meetings and midnight holiday weekend legislative sessions in which Republicans had severely curtailed ability to offer amendments, President Obama wants to invite them to a televised health care summit to talk about the GOP alternatives he said didn’t exist?

Rush Limbaugh agrees…

And what do you know? The Washington Post is now reporting that the Republican Party might be listening…

Leading House Republicans raised the prospect Monday night that they may decline to participate in President Obama’s proposed health-care summit if the White House chooses not to scrap the existing reform bills and start over.

In a letter to White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, House Minority Leader John A. Boehner (Ohio) and Minority Whip Eric Cantor (Va.) expressed frustration about reports that Obama intends to put the Democratic bills on the table for discussion at the summit, which would be held Feb. 25.

“If the starting point for this meeting is the job-killing bills the American people have already soundly rejected, Republicans would rightly be reluctant to participate,” Boehner and Cantor wrote.

How does that old saying go? Fool me once…

Four Words That Have Changed the Political Landscape

“It’s the people’s seat.”

About 24 hours ago, I uploaded a short video on YouTube of Massachusetts senate candidate Scott Brown, in which he declared to debate moderator David Gergen “With all due respect, it’s not the Kennedy’s seat, it’s not the Democrats’ seat, it’s the people’s seat.” At the time of this writing, just 24 hours later, that video has been viewed over 270,000 times.

Last night and today, the video was embedded or linked on countless blogs and was even featured on the Drudge Report. That moment of the debate was discussed by Rush Limbaugh on his radio show today and the video was embedded on his website.

Scott Brown was able to summarize a national zeitgeist in four simple words, “it’s the people’s seat.”

Those four words confirmed for many Americans, what they have felt for months. That our elected representatives have forgotten that their seats belong to us, not them. A mere 24 hours after Brown uttered these words, they have already become an auto-fill statement on Google.

Its The Peoples Seat

That Scott Brown was able to articulate this so eloquently, proves that he has not forgotten what it means to serve the people and for that, he deserves the the trust of Massachusetts voters and Americans from every other state.

Scott Brown is what America needs more of in our elected officials. An understanding that they represent the will of the American people. As a libertarian and a resident of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, I will cast my vote for Brown on January 19th for one simple reason.

I trust him.

Keep Rush Limbaugh in Your Thoughts

Rush Limbaugh was taken to a hospital today in Hawaii for chest pains. KITV in Honolulu reports:

“Conservative radio talk host Rush Limbaugh was rushed to a Honolulu hospital on Wednesday afternoon with chest pains, sources told KITV.Paramedics responded to the call at 2:41 p.m. at the Kahala Hotel and Resort.”

“Limbaugh, 58, suffered from chest pains, sources said. Limbaugh was sitting in a chair in his ninth-floor hotel room at the Kahala when emergency crews arrived, sources said. He told medical crews that he was taking medication for a back problem, sources said.Paramedics treated him and took him to Queen’s Medical Center in serious condition. He will not be released from the hospital on Wednesday night, sources said.”

HotAirPundit has done a great job of covering this story and has multiple updates with video.

Althouse points out a sad yet inevitable development from the left.

I have found that most of Limbaugh’s fiercest critics never listen to his show and have no idea what he stands for.

Make a speedy recovery, Rush. We need you now more than ever.

Carpet Muncher Finally Apologizes for Slandering Rush

Noted Carpet Muncher Rachel Maddow

“Carpet Muncher” is a politically correct term, right? After all, if “Teabagger” is OK, then why not Pole Smoker, or “homo?”

I digress…

Noted lefty Carpet Muncher, Rachel Maddow, has finally apologized for falsely accusing Rush Limbaugh of racism with unchecked statements which were made up out of thin air…

“On June 3, Rachel Maddow said during her TV show that Rush Limbaugh is the “guy who says the assassin of Martin Luther King, Jr. should get the Medal of Honor.”

“MADDOW: And finally, a quote falsely attributed to talk show host Rush Limbaugh recently resurfaced during the debate over whether or not he would or should be part of a group bidding to buy the St. Louis Rams football team.”

“To set the record straight, Rush Limbaugh apparently never said that Martin Luther King Jr.`s assassin should receive the Medal of Honor. And I was in error when we reported that we had. Mea culpa.”

No problem, boyish dyke.

We “Teabaggers” on the right accept your apology despite your lipstick appearance, diesel mouth and tuna stained breath. We strive to be as open minded as you are.

And by the way, thanks for opening up the world of homo slurs by flagrantly throwing around the term “Teabagger” as an acceptable insult.

After all, we couldn’t have done it without you.
