Mark This Day In History

As the day that a conservative think tank outdid Saturday Night Live and The Daily Show in edgy political humor.
Hat tip to Gateway Pundit.
As you probably know, Eric (nation of cowards) Holder and the Department of Justice dropped the case against these guys. Wonder why…
Video via Ed Morrissey at Hot Air who notes: “Lovely. Someone’s crackers, and I’d say it’s the people who decided to drop the case against this lunatic.”
You know, there was a time in America when such a thing was the subject of parody. When Eddie Murphy was on Saturday Night Live in the 1980′s, he once played a Reggae singer who had trouble connecting with his mostly white VFW audience as he sang a song called “Kill The White People.”
America is better than this. This is the land of freedom and opportunity for all. I can laugh when Eddie Murphy offers race violence as an outrageous comedy act but the minute anyone, white, black, brown, yellow, red or green advocates murder based on race, all bets are off.
The Department of Justice is not acting in the best interests of all Americans by ignoring this situation.
Unlike Robert Stacy McCain, who is hated by Allahpundit, I got some street cred tonight when I suggested a “quote of the day” that ended up on Hot Air.
I may not be the only blogger who suggested that article for Hot Air’s quote of the day but I’m sure I was one of them.
Who knows, maybe I could even play Allahpundit at the Hot Air party.
After all, it’s just acting. I don’t have to be a “Master Thespian” right?
It’s a comedy, really.
10/06/09 – CNN “fact checks” Saturday Night Live to Protect Obama
“Stooping to depths only MSNBC would explore on a bad day, CNN’s The Beard attempted to rescue his Dear Leader from SNL’s “not fair” and “not true” segment of Obama over the weekend. Can you believe this?”
10/14/09 – CNN runs unchecked LIES about Rush Limbaugh
“The irony is, of course, that the people reporting this as fact are the same types who are always denouncing bloggers and the internet as forces of evil intent on destroying proper journalism – proper journalism being the kind that involves checking facts. In the case of Rush Limbaugh, however, it seems to be enough that the intention (i.e. to show the talk radio host is a racist) is considered pure.”
10/16/09 – CNN Defends Anita Dunn’s Declaration of Love for Mao Tse-tung
CNN cites the George Soros funded propaganda machine, Media Matters.
“Media Matters for America, a liberal media watchdog group, points out that former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, also a Fox News contributor, quoted Mao in a 1995 Roll Call profile.”
That might be a fine argument, especially if CNN or “Media Matters” had noticed that conservatives are no longer supporting Newt Gingrich, who is proving himself to be quite the RINO.
Erick Erickson of Red State: On Newt Gingrich’s Endorsement (of a RINO)
“It is unhelpful when people like Newt Gingrich break away from the movement to endorse candidates who are also supported by Planned Parenthood, NARAL, ACORN, unions,, etc. and a woman who has several hundred thousands of dollars of tax liens and business failures galore to go with them.”
“Perhaps I said more than I should have in my earlier post as I was rather angry about this turn of events when I wrote it. So let me now say that, at least, along with a great deal of the movement that has felt Newt to be one of us, I am disappointed.”
Which leads us to our final example of CNN’s latest hypocrisy, brilliantly pointed out by Mark Steyn.
10/17/09 – Mark Steyn of National Review “A Tale of Two Soundbites”
“So if I understand correctly: Rush Limbaugh is so “divisive” that to get him fired leftie agitators have to invent racist soundbites to put in his mouth. But the White House communications director is so un-divisive that she can be invited along to recommend Chairman Mao as a role model for America’s young.”
To sum up, here is CNN’s philosophy:
1. Conservatives are evil and should be demonized at any opportunity, no fact checking required.
2. Defend Obama at any cost, including CNN’s journalistic integrity.
3. Reverse the facts if it helps promote the progressive agenda. (which CNN supports)
The end.

EPILOGUE: Ted Turner wants to retake control of CNN.
Good luck with that, Ted.
For what it’s worth…you might fare better with the Cartoon Network.
Hell yes!
Attention Mr. Lorne Michaels: If Glenn Beck hosted SNL, I promise you it would be the most watched episode since the last time Eddie Murphy put on a Gumby suit. You think I’m kidding?
It was Mediaite’s idea. Apparently they were really turned on by Beck’s opening bit tonight which you can see on their site.
“Someone at 30 Rock needs to approach Glenn Beck and ask him to host SNL, pronto. They could use Beck’s opener today in lieu of an audition tape. The White House’s decision to treat Fox News as an opponent might just be the best gift Beck has ever received; between the red phone on set, the grip whose job it is to sit beside it in case the White House calls, the chalkboard, and Beck’s impressions, his opener this evening may have been the best 20 minutes of television you’ll see all day.”
Even Allahpundit at Hot Air thinks it’s a great idea.
I like the video at Mediaite but if you really want to see Glenn Beck’s true comedic potential, you should watch this:
Bill and Chris are actually very charitable to President Obama and reserve their negative remarks for the Nobel Prize Committee. If you don’t want to bother with any of that, skip ahead to the seven minute mark to hear their analysis of Conan O’Brien’s Big Birther Bird Sesame Street parody with the first lady.
The final bonus is their mockery of CNN for fact checking Saturday Night Live.
Is it any wonder that more people are watching FOX News at 3 am than CNN at 8 pm?
Last Saturday night, SNL aired its first truly critical Obama themed sketch, poking fun at the president’s seeming inability to get things done. On Monday, CNN’s Wolf Blitzer thoroughly fact checked the skit for accuracy, a report which was immediately lampooned by conservative blogs.
Today, CNN’s Ed Rollins wades into the debate and he is deeply, deeply concerned…
“In the comedy skit, the president is asked about unrealized campaign promises, including closing Gitmo, combating global warming, allowing openly gay people to serve in the military, withdrawing from Iraq, improving the status of the fight in Afghanistan, reforming health care and several others. On screen the response on a check list was: that each item was “not done.”
“Humor with some truth in it is always dangerous. Make no mistake, a drumbeat of belittlement can damage a president.”
“Dangerous” is a rather interesting choice of words, isn’t it?
“But the real question being debated on cable TV because of the “SNL” parody is this: “Has the media’s love affair and honeymoon with President Obama ended?”
Apparently not, Ed.
“I can’t answer that. I can say that President is being judged with the same scrutiny as those who have gone before him in the modern era.”
Really, Ed? One sketch that’s critical of Obama is equal to the non-stop, highly critical Bush parodies SNL churned out for over eight years? Really?
“Republicans have no hope left about Obama. At best, they pray, for the good of the country that he’s not as bad as Jimmy Carter.”
“But in reality, they see the man who campaigned as a centrist turning out to be the feared liberal who voted that way during his short Senate tenure. At a time of fiscal crisis, President Obama in their minds is turning into the biggest spender and taxer in history — and they believe they must oppose him.”
Got that everyone? Obama’s big spending is only taking place in the minds of Republicans.
I guess the $787 billion dollar Stimulus Bill only passed in John Boehner’s mind. Perhaps the Cap and Trade bill the Democrats want to pass is just a bad dream being had by Michael Steele. Maybe Republicans just imagined this chart:

If CNN wants to be taken seriously by more viewers it must do two things.
1. Stop sounding so obvious in its desire to carry water for Obama.
2. Stop being funnier than Saturday Night Live.
Oops! Did I say Sarah Palin? I meant to say that CNN is defending President Obama from Saturday Night Live.
Palin bashing on SNL is apparently still just fine…
