Obama is a Socialist?

Maybe Newsweek was onto something…

A plurality of likely voters now view Obama as a socialist according to a poll conducted by Democratic strategist James Carville!

Via Jim Geraghty at National Review…

The latest poll by Democracy Corps, the firm of James Carville and Stan Greenberg, has Republicans leading on the generic ballot among likely voters, 48 percent to 42 percent.

Deep in the poll, they ask, “Now, I am going to read you a list of words and phrases which people use to describe political figures. For each word or phrase, please tell me whether it describes Barack Obama very well, well, not too well, or not well at all.”

On “too liberal,” 35 percent of likely voters say it describes Obama “very well,” 21 percent say “well,” 21 percent say “not too well,” and 17 percent say “not well at all.” In other words, 56 percent of likely voters consider Obama too liberal.

When asked about “a socialist,” 33 percent of likely voters say it describes Obama “very well,” 22 percent say “well,” 15 percent say “not too well,” and 25 percent say “not well at all.”

In other words, 55 percent of likely voters think “socialist” is a reasonably accurate way of describing Obama.

President Obama might be able to turn that perception around by 2012 but as far as the 2010 mid-term elections are concerned all I can say is good luck, comrade.

Maybe it would help if the Democrats stopped holding midnight sessions to force through 2,000 page bills they haven’t read and which most Americans oppose.

Just a thought.

Chris Matthews Wants Obama to “Nationalize” The Oil Companies

Chris Matthews on MessDNC last week:

“I don’t think the government is doing its best. Why doesn’t the President go in there, nationalize an industry and get the job done for the people? There’s a national interest in this, not just a BP interest.”

Sounds familiar, Chris. I seem to remember a certain dumbass in the senate suggesting the same thing in 2009.

A California lawmaker who got a communist dictator to harbor a cop-murdering Black Panther fugitive and accused the CIA of selling crack cocaine in black neighborhoods has become the laughing stock of Congress for threatening to nationalize the oil industry.

Waters told the president of a major oil company to “guess what this liberal would be all about? This liberal would be all about socializing — uh, uh, would be about basically taking over and the government running all of your companies.”

Liberty Died While You Slept

Good morning, America. Liberty died while you slept last night.

Against your will, the United States Senate voted for cloture on ObamaCare at 1 AM on December 21, 2009. They didn’t meet last night to create jobs. They didn’t meet last night for the economy. They didn’t meet last night for national security.

They met last night to take away your liberty.

Below, you can see the video of the 58 Democrats and 2 Independents who voted AYE, as well as the 40 Republicans who voted NO.

Readers: If you’re a Democrat and you think this is good news, I suggest you check in with Markos Moulitsas.

Enjoy the end of your liberty, America.

Angelina Jolie Thinks Obama is a Socialist in Disguise

"She's into education and rehabilitation and thinks Obama is all about welfare and handouts. She thinks Obama is really a socialist in disguise."

What disguise, Angelina?

Us Weekly reports:

Angelina Jolie“Barack Obama does not have Angelina Jolie’s seal of approval.”

“She hates him,” a source close to the U.N. goodwill ambassador, 34, tells the new issue of Us Weekly on newsstands now.”

“She’s into education and rehabilitation and thinks Obama is all about welfare and handouts. She thinks Obama is really a socialist in disguise,” adds the source.”

“But don’t expect to see the Salt actress rally against Democrats on Fox News like her staunch Republican father, Jon Voight.

“Angie isn’t Republican, but she thinks Obama is all smoke and mirrors,” the source says.”

Allahpundit seems surprised by this news:

“Any reason to believe this story might be true (apart from her patrilineage)? Why, yes: Not only did she famously call for the United States to stay put in Iraq in order to avert a humanitarian disaster but she was officially undecided on last year’s election until fairly late in the game. The seeds are there, people. They just need to be nurtured.”

Frankly this news isn’t surprising when you consider that Angelina Jolie is a long time fan of Ayn Rand. Jolie has been angling since as far back as 2006 to play Dagny Taggart in a film adaptation of Atlas Shrugged.

“Lionsgate has picked up worldwide distribution rights to “Atlas Shrugged” from Howard and Karen Baldwin (“Ray”), who will produce with John Aglialoro.”

“As for stars, book provides an ideal role for an actress in lead character Dagny Taggart, so it’s not a stretch to assume Rand enthusiast Angelina Jolie’s name has been brought up. Brad Pitt, also a fan, is rumored to be among the names suggested for lead male character John Galt.”

I have a feeling that if Ayn Rand was still alive, she would also say Obama is a socialist. I doubt however, she’d say he was disguising it.

Britain Has Figured Out That Socialism Sucks, Prepares to Oust Labour Party

Britain's Labour Party, the political equivalent of America's Democratic Party, has not produced results and the British people are responding. As you read some of the snippets provided below, note the similarities to the frustrations many Americans feel.

Britain’s Labour Party, the political equivalent of America’s Democratic Party, has not produced results and the British people are responding. As you read some of the snippets provided below, note the similarities to the frustrations many Americans feel.

The Sun UK reports:

“TWELVE years ago, Britain was crying out for change from a divided, exhausted Government. Today we are there again.”

“Britain feels broken . . . and the Government is out of excuses.”

“Blair took office with bulging coffers, an invincible majority and weak opposition, and he and Gordon Brown could have worked miracles.”

“But they FAILED on law and order, their mantra “tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime” becoming a national joke.”

“Labour FAILED on schools. Yes, facilities improved – but four in 10 kids leave those shiny classrooms still unable to read, write or add up properly.”

“Labour FAILED on health – spending billions on clipboard-ticking target managers instead of on frontline care.”

“Labour FAILED on immigration, opening our borders without any regard to the consequences. Illegal migrants and bogus asylum seekers poured in.”

“Labour FAILED the children they claimed to have made their priority. After 12 years of Blair and Brown, Britain is officially the WORST country in the developed world in which to grow up.”

“Most disgracefully of all, Labour FAILED our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, leaving them to die through chronic under-funding and the shambolic leadership of dismal Defence Secretaries like Bob Ainsworth.”

“Britain needs a brave and wise Government to restore our self-respect, our natural entrepreneurship and the will of every family to improve its lot through its own efforts, without depending on handouts.”

“We need a Government that will cut the red tape strangling businesses, that will make affordable tax cuts to stimulate growth, that will reform wasteful public services.”

“We need a Government with a genuine will to win the war in Afghanistan and the commitment to give our forces whatever they need to do it.”

“We are still a great people and, put to the test, will respond to the challenges we face.”

“The Sun believes – and prays – that the Conservative leadership can put the great back into Great Britain.”

As an American, all I can say is me too!

Lest We Forget: The Newest Supreme Court JUDGE Sonia Sotomayor Has Ties to ACORN

As the scandal of ACORN erupts across our country proving once and for all that ACORN is a sleazy racket which has no problem with tax evasion or child prostitution, we might do ourselves well to remember that President Obama's first Supreme Court appointee has ties to said organization.

As the scandal of ACORN erupts across our country proving once and for all that ACORN is a sleazy racket which has no problem with tax evasion or child prostitution, we might do ourselves well to remember that President Obama’s first Supreme Court appointee has ties to said organization.

The Washington Times July 2, 2009:

“Judge Sotomayor worked for PRLDEF in various capacities from 1980 until she became a federal judge in 1992, spending most of her time as a board member.”

“The documents, which the group’s lawyers have said include relevant information about Judge Sotomayor’s time there, also show the fund did legal work for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, known as ACORN. During the 2008 presidential election, ACORN came under fire after allegations of voter registration fraud.”

Great.

Today, the Wall Street Journal reports that Justice Sotomayor is falling right in line with her “community organization” past. How? By demonizing corporations, of course.

Sotomayor Issues Challenge to a Century of Corporate Law

“In her maiden Supreme Court appearance last week, Justice Sonia Sotomayor made a provocative comment that probed the foundations of corporate law.”

“During arguments in a campaign-finance case, the court’s majority conservatives seemed persuaded that corporations have broad First Amendment rights and that recent precedents upholding limits on corporate political spending should be overruled.”

“But Justice Sotomayor suggested the majority might have it all wrong — and that instead the court should reconsider the 19th century rulings that first afforded corporations the same rights flesh-and-blood people have.”

“I don’t want to draw too much from one comment,” says Todd Gaziano, director of the Center for Legal and Judicial Studies at the conservative Heritage Foundation. But it “doesn’t give me a lot of confidence that she respects the corporate form and the type of rights that it should be afforded.”

ACORN may be falling apart at the seams but they have an ally on the bench of the American Supreme Court. Justice Sotomayor sent her warning shot across America’s bow with this statement.

I wish I could give her the benefit of the doubt but I fear her tenure on the Supreme Court will be favorable to leftism of the same ilk as ACORN.

Anyone who opposed Sotomayor’s appointment was called “fanatical” and “racist” just like anyone who opposes Obama’s policies but at the end of the day, the facts speak for themselves.

We now have a Supreme Court Justice in Sotomayor who once worked with and supported a corrupt organization now being investigated for vote fraud in multiple states. And more recently for offering support to illegal immigration, human trafficking and the sex slavery of children.

The next time Obama supporters and the media (same difference) tell us we’re crazy to oppose an Obama decision we know in our gut to be wrong, perhaps we’ll trust our intuition and not the evening news.

DEAR CALIFORNIA: Please Send Maxine Waters Packing in 2010

Dear California,

There are two things you must by now be aware of by now.

1. You are broke.

2. Maxine Waters has to go.

Maxine Waters and other legislators like her are part of the reason you are broke. Yet does she assume any responsibility? No. Instead she is going around threatening the only people in the Democratic Party who are urging caution on the mad rush to spend more. Did you see this report in The Hill?

“Liberal frustration started to boil over in the House on Tuesday as negotiations over healthcare reform with centrist Blue Dog Democrats dragged into a second week.”

“The delay prompted Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) to lash out at the Blue Dogs as hypocritical and even hint that more liberal Democrats might challenge them in primaries.”

“Asked if she would recruit more liberal candidates to run against Blue Dogs, Waters said, “That’s normally not done.”

But she added: “There may be people out there listening and observing all of this who may get motivated based on what they’re seeing and throw their hat into the ring.”

Perhaps you are a doctor, lawyer or business person in California. If you are, throw your hat into the ring, run against this woman and send her packing.

Have you ever seen this video?

Do you think this woman has your best interests in mind?

Organize. Run. Send Maxine Waters packing. Thanks.

Sincerely,

The Rest of The United States

WATERLOO: Is Obama’s Presidency Imploding?

Senator Jim DeMint may have touched off a powder keg last week. Speaking of opposition to Obama’s monstrous overhaul of America’s healthcare system he said:

“If we’re able to stop Obama on this it will be his Waterloo. It will break him.”

Obama didn’t like this comment at all and went after DeMint immediately.

“Just the other day, one Republican senator said – and I’m quoting him now – ‘If we’re able to stop Obama on this, it will be his Waterloo. It will break him,’ Obama said, quoting DeMint. “Think about that. This isn’t about me. This isn’t about politics. This is about a health care system that is breaking America’s families, breaking America’s businesses, and breaking America’s economy.”

Odd comments from a man who is rapidly losing the confidence of the American people, specifically on the economy.

Furthermore, US News & World Report points out that Obama’s responding attack on DeMint makes him look weak and diminishes his position as president.

“This is probably the reason he has chosen to take on a first-term Republican United States senator in the debate over healthcare. In political terms, it is somewhat remarkable that Obama has lowered himself to address comments by South Carolina Republican Sen. Jim DeMint, who suggested that the healthcare legislation, if it could be defeated, would be Obama’s “Waterloo.”

“By responding to DeMint, Obama made him his political equal, at least for the time being.”

Even CNN is reporting that members of the President’s own party are “baffled” by his stance on healthcare:

“As the prospects for passing health reform by the time Congress leaves for its August recess look bleaker, Democratic grumbling about President Obama is growing louder. One Democratic senator tells CNN congressional Democrats are “baffled,” and another senior Democratic source tells CNN members of the president’s own party are still “frustrated” that they’re not getting more specific direction from him on health care.”

Another report from National Journal paints a much bleaker picture and has a story from Senator Charles Grassley where he claims a Democrat congressman described an incident with President Obama where the president said of Democrat opposition to the healthcare overhaul, “You’re going to destroy my presidency.”

“Let’s just lay everything on the table,” Grassley said. “A Democrat congressman last week told me after a conversation with the president that the president had trouble in the House of Representatives, and it wasn’t going to pass if there weren’t some changes made … and the president says, ‘You’re going to destroy my presidency.’ “

“The White House did not respond to requests for comment.”

The final proof of Obama’s desperation was his rallying cry to the nutroots of the blogosphere. He made it clear to his hardcore left wing base that this is war. First, he held a conference call with them where he urged them to attack opponents of his plan.

Then yesterday, he sent out a fear mongering message over Twitter saying “They’re playing politics with our lives. Fight back.”

This sounds like the politics of fear. This sounds like the desperate flailing of a man who is running out of options.

This sounds like Obama’s Waterloo.

CLASSIC VIDEO: Milton Friedman On the Importance of Capitalism and Free Markets

In the video below, Nobel Prize winning economist Milton Friedman, schools Phil Donahue on the virtues of capitalism and free markets versus corrupt poverty creating systems like communism.

This interview is from 1979 and Friedman passed away in 2006 at the age of 94. One has to wonder what Friedman would have to say about the state of affairs in America today. I’m guessing he would not be pleased.
