American pundits, bloggers and politicians give way too much credit to Andrew Sullivan. He is irrelevant to American politics.

Andrew Sullivan is not a United States citizen.

He can’t vote in our elections.

He can’t legally cast a vote for his local dog catcher in Washington, DC.

Back in the early 2000’s, Sullivan made a name for himself as a blogger and supported George W. Bush. He portrayed himself as a “gay Catholic conservative.” His fame quickly rose with his blog stats.

Sometime in 2007 or 2008, Sullivan became an Obama supporter, presumably because he thought (wrongly) that President Obama would legally sanction his marriage to Mr. Aaron Tone, an American citizen, which would automatically make Sullivan an American citizen.

For the record, I’m a conservative libertarian who supports gay marriage. I believe in the right of free adult American citizens to marry whomever they choose. It’s none of the federal government’s business.

However…

Andrew Sullivan clearly cares more about his own self interests than he does about the United States of America. Therefore, I don’t care about him.

Until Andrew Sullivan is a United States citizen, he has no business claiming any authority in American politics.

Until Andrew Sullivan can vote in our elections he has no business insinuating himself in American policy.

Until Andrew Sullivan is an American, I don’t care what he thinks. He’s irrelevant.

If he disagrees with me I hope he’ll let me know when I, as an American citizen, can cast a vote for the next king or queen of England.

Until then, I wish he’d just shut up.

Governor Phil McCrackin (D) of the great state of New Dakota, says President Obama’s stimulus plan is working and has created thousands of new jobs for his state, particularly in the capital city of Fantasia which sits on the border of neighbor state, Old Hampshire.

ABC Reports similar findings in other areas:

“Here’s a stimulus success story: In Arizona’s 15th congressional district, 30 jobs have been saved or created with just $761,420 in federal stimulus spending. At least that’s what the Web site set up by the Obama administration to track the $787 billion stimulus says.”

“There’s one problem, though: There is no 15th congressional district in Arizona; the state has only eight districts.”

“And ABC News has found many more entries for projects like this in places that are incorrectly identified.”

“Late Monday, officials with the Recovery Board created to track the stimulus spending, said the mistakes in crediting nonexistent congressional districts were caused by human error.”

Positive reports on job creation through the stimulus bill are expected later this week from the states of Noregon, New Connecticut, South Wyoming and Westconsin.

A handful of local town meeting officials in the western Massachusetts town of Amherst are actively campaigning to host a couple of GITMO detainees there. Funny thing is, at least one of them is also responsible for making sure that American flags don’t fly in downtown Amherst on the anniversary of 9/11.

“Selectman Diana Stein was uncertain about supporting the article, the Springfield Republican reported, until she realized her fear of the detainees had been “propagandized” into her. The other “yes” vote, Gerald Weiss, had no such qualms, saying the detainees were “suffering because of the U.S. government.”

“Music to the ears of Ruth F. Hooke, who wrote the article and says the detainees “sound like fine guys. They’d fit right in Amherst.”

“She should know. As a member of Town Meeting, Hooke supported resolutions calling for the impeachment of President George W. Bush, the immediate withdrawal of all troops from Iraq and granting the right to vote to non-citizens.”

“What does Hooke oppose? Military action against Iran and the flying of American flags in downtown Amherst – on 9/11.”

“Read that again: Ruth Hooke wants released Guantanamo detainees roaming downtown Amherst next Sept. 11, but she opposes flying American flags to commemorate that horrific day.”

Hey middle America, meet Amherst, Massachusetts where the American flag is (to some) a “symbol of terrorism.”

The volume on this video isn’t great but stay with it. Then walk around for a few minutes counting to ten so you don’t pick up your chair and start smashing things.

The laundry list of liberals who are now accusing conservatives of being unpatriotic is laughable.

The Politico writes today “Now Who Loves America More? It’s Not the GOP”

Eugene Robinson of the Washington Post wrote an article this week asking “Why Do Conservatives Hate America So?”

The George Soros funded progressive propaganda machine known as Media Matters has written numerous pieces denouncing conservatives as unpatriotic haters for being happy that Obama was unable to bring the Olympics to Chicago.

The DNC and some liberal writers used the America hating slur on conservatives saying that if you felt Obama was undeserving of the Nobel peace prize, you were “siding with the terrorists.”

Sensing a pattern yet?

What we have here is a clear misunderstanding of the concept of patriotism on the part of progressives.

You see, conservatives associate patriotism with love of country, regardless of who is president and even though many of us strongly disagree with President Obama’s policies, we still respect his office. It is our very love of America as it is and has always been that makes us resistant to the “change” which many of us feel is being forced upon the country.

Progressives on the other hand, only associate patriotism with love of President Obama. They feel there is something inherently wrong with America which will only be a great country when it is “changed” to reflect their world view as a more progressive, i.e. European style country. This view is rejected by conservatives who love America just the way she is.

Progressives feel any criticism of Obama is a criticism of America. It isn’t. It’s just a criticism of Obama but this explains everything. Progressives feel Obama represents America. He doesn’t. He’s just the current president, that’s all.

Progressives are currently using a line of attack based on patriotism because it is a point on which they have always rightly felt vulnerable. One need look no further than the numerous people with whom President Obama associates who have long had a negative view of America.

Bill Ayers hated America so much he decided to attack his own country with bombs. Jeremiah Wright used his position as a religious leader to hatefully criticize America from the pulpit. Van Jones has made no secret of his radical views and his disdain for the county. Even the first lady was once excoriated by the press for uttering her famous line about being proud of her country for the first time when her husband became the obvious nominee for the Democrats.

For progressives to hurl accusations of anti-Americanism at conservatives is laughable.

If progressives were truly patriotic themselves, they would have been patriotic all along, not just because we finally have a progressive president in the White House.  They would not continue insisting that there is something wrong with America, even as they control a majority of American government.

They might have even showed a bit more patriotism under President Bush, but we all know how that worked out.

Last time I checked, Oregon was part of the United States which leads one to the obvious question… Who among us is offended by the American flag???

“ALBANY, Ore. – At the Oaks Apartments in Albany, the management can fly their own flag advertising one and two bedroom apartments – but residents have been told they can’t fly any flags at all.”

“Jim Clausen flies the American flag from the back of his motorcycle. He has a son in the military heading back to Iraq, and the flag – he said – is his way of showing support.”

“This flag stands for all those people,” said Clausen, an Oaks Apartment resident. “It stands for the people that can no longer stand – who died in wars. That’s why I fly this flag.”

“But to Oaks Apartment management, Clausen said, the American flag symbolizes problems.”

“He was told to remove the red, white and blue from both of his rides, or face eviction.”

“It floored me,” he said. “I can’t believe she was saying what she was saying.”

“Even long-time residents like Sharron White, who has flown a flag on her car for eight years, has been told to take it down.”

“White said management told her that “someone might get offended.”

“I just said to her ‘They’ll just have to get over it,’” White said.”

“Resident we talked to who had been approached to take down their flags all told us the same thing: that management told them the flags could be offensive because they live in a diverse community.”

Our elected representatives are repeatedly pushing legislation against the will of the majority.

Children are singing songs about Obama in public schools where Christmas carols have been outlawed.

And now Americans can’t fly the United States flag in our own country for fear of offending people?

Really? Really???

I am offended. Deeply offended.

I am getting more offended by the day.

The USS New York is a Navy ship which was built with steel from the wreckage of the World Trade Center in New York City. It will be commissioned in its namesake city in November.

“AVONDALE, La. — A Navy assault ship built with tons of steel salvaged from the World Trade Center towers began its journey to New York on Tuesday, sailing down the Mississippi River in a pea-soup fog as watchers along the levee strained for a glimpse.”

“The USS New York, named to commemorate the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, left the Northrop Grumman shipyard where it was built for the trip to its namesake city. The $1 billion ship will be formally commissioned in New York in early November.”

“The New York is 684 feet long and can carry up to 800 Marines. It has a flight deck that can handle helicopters and the MV-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft.”

“Four tugboats performed an intricate set of maneuvers to pull the warship from the dock at the New Orleans-area shipyard and turn it 180 degrees toward the waters of Gulf of Mexico. An armed Coast Guard speedboat and a helicopter flying overhead guarded the vessel. The ship will sail through the Gulf and around Florida before turning north and continuing to New York.”

First of all, why does the President of the United States have a pro-Sharia law advisor in the White House???

Second of all, why is she appearing on British television saying things like this?

“The group believes in the non-violent destruction of Western democracy and the creation of an Islamic state under Sharia Law across the world.”

“Miss Mogahed appeared alongside Hizb ut Tahrir’s national women’s officer, Nazreen Nawaz.”

CNS News reports on a new Gallup poll which shows that Conservatives outnumber Liberals in all 50 States:

“Self-identified conservatives outnumber self-identified liberals in all 50 states of the union, according to the Gallup Poll.”

“At the same time, more Americans nationwide are saying this year that they are conservative than have made that claim in any of the last four years.”

“In 2009, 40% percent of respondents in Gallup surveys that have interviewed more than 160,000 Americans have said that they are either “conservative” (31%) or “very conservative” (9%). That is the highest percentage in any year since 2004.”

“Only 21% have told Gallup they are liberal, including 16% who say they are “liberal” and 5% who say they are “very liberal.”

“Thirty-five percent of Americans say they are moderate.”

“During Republican President George W. Bush’s second term, the number of self-identified conservatives as measured by Gallup dropped, riding at a low of 37% as recently as last year.”

“According to new data released by Gallup on Friday, conservatives outnumber liberals in all 50 states–including President Obama’s home state of Illinois–even though Democrats have a significant advantage over Republicans in party identification in 30 states.”

“While Gallup polling has found this to be true at the national level over many years, and spanning recent Republican as well as Democratic presidential administrations, the present analysis confirms that the pattern also largely holds at the state level,” said Gallup. “Conservatives outnumber liberals by statistically significant margins in 47 of the 50 states, with the two groups statistically tied in Hawaii, Vermont, and Massachusetts.”

“Massachusetts, Vermont and Hawaii are the most liberal states, even though conservatives marginally outrank liberals even there. In Massachusetts, according to Gallup, 30% say they are conservative and 29% say they are liberal, a difference that falls within the margin of error for the state. In Vermont, 29% say they are conservative and 28% say they are liberal, which also falls within the survey’s margin of error for the state.  In Hawaii, 29% say they are conservative and 24% say they are liberal, which falls within the margin of error for that state.”

“In one non-state jurisdiction covered by the survey, liberals did outnumber conservatives. That was Washington, D.C., where 37% said they were liberal, 35% said they were moderate and 23% said they were conservative.”

“Even in New York and New Jersey, conservatives outnumber liberals by 6 percentage points, according to Gallup. In those states, 32% say they are conservative and 26% say they are liberal.  In Connecticut, conservatives outnumber liberals by 7 points, 31% to 24%.”

“Alabama is the state that comes closest to a conservative majority. In that state, according to Gallup, 49% say they are conservative and 15% say they are liberal.”

“In President Obama’s home state of Illinois, conservatives outnumber liberals, 35% to 23%.”

“Gallup’s results were derived from interviewing 160,236 American adults between Jan. 2, 2009 and June 30, 2009.”

“Even though conservatives outnumber liberals in all 50 states, in 21 of these states self-identified moderates outnumber conservatives, and in 4 states the percentage saying they are conservative and the percentage saying they are moderate is exactly the same.”

“The two states with the highest percentage of self-identified moderates are Hawaii and Rhode Island, where 43% say they are moderate.”

This poll shows something most Conservatives already knew: The strength of the Republican Party is NOT a gauge of whether or not Americans identify as Conservatives. There are plently of Independents, Libertarians and yes even Democrats who identify as Conservatives.
