Let Me Be Clear: Obama Deserves ZERO Credit For Iraq

Obama has been breaking his arm patting himself on the back for success in Iraq lately, Biden too. But just so we’re clear, neither Joe Biden nor Barack Obama deserve a single ounce of credit for any success in Iraq. The timetable for withdrawal of troops from Iraq that Obama sees fit to call the fulfillment of one of his campaign promises, was designed by the one man Obama will never ever give credit. George W. Bush…

President Barack Obama told disabled veterans in Atlanta on Monday that he was fulfilling a campaign promise by ending U.S. combat operations in Iraq “on schedule.”

But the timetable for withdrawing U.S. troops in Iraq was decided during the Bush administration with the signing of the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) by U.S. and Iraq officials on Nov. 16, 2008. The Iraqi parliament signed SOFA on Nov. 27, 2008.

The agreement, which had been in negotiations since 2007, set a timetable calling for most U.S. troops to leave Iraqi towns and cities by June 30, 2009, with about 50,000 troops left in place until the final withdrawal of all U.S. military forces by Dec. 31, 2011.

Listen to Obama, who opposed the surge, touting his success…

General Petraeus Is An ENYA Fan?

I’m an Enya fan and a General Petraeus fan. BIG thanks to Allahpundit of Hot Air for writing about this…

GRIFFIN: Is there any music that you particularly like? Are you a classical music guy? Are you a pop, are you a Taylor Swift guy?
PETRAEUS: No, no. I’m an Enya guy. I don’t know if Enya’s still –
GRIFFIN: Enya?

Below is a video for one of my favorite Enya songs. It’s called “Anywhere Is.”

Why Would Algerian Detainees Rather Stay At GITMO?

Could it be because they’re treated better by America than they would be treated by the government of their own country?

In a word? Yes.

The Obama administration would quickly send home six Algerians held at the military detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, but for one problem: The men don’t want to go. Given the choice between repatriation and incarceration, the men choose Gitmo, according to their lawyers.

The administration secured a significant legal victory Thursday when a federal appeals court overturned a lower court’s ruling that had barred the government from repatriating one of them. The detainee had asserted that if he is returned, the Algerian government will torture him or he will be targeted by terrorist groups who will kill him if he refuses to join.

Hat Tip to John Hinderaker at Powerline who adds:

The detainees fear that they might be tortured or killed if they return to Algeria. Which is to say, actually tortured, something that has never happened at Gitmo, notwithstanding the global hyperventilation of the last seven or eight years.

Wouldn’t it be nice if leftist organizations, like – oh I don’t know – the Democratic Party, would acknowledge this as a fact just once?

I guess it’s too bad that the Algerian detainees aren’t Uighurs because if they were, they’d probably be headed to the sandy pink beaches of Bermuda.

Of course, that plan worked so well that it inspired graffiti in the subways of Boston, Massachusetts.

The Best Argument Against Elena Kagan So Far

Before you watch the video of Capt. Pete Hegseth below, there are a few things you should know.

Caleb Howe at Red State says of this testimony, “Devastating. There’s nothing to add.”

While I understand the point Caleb is making, I contend that there’s plenty to add in the name of clarity so that we’re all on the same page.

1. Elena Kagan justified her Harvard Law School activism against military recruiters on “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” by calling it a “policy of the United States Military” when in fact, it was a policy of President Bill Clinton, a man for whom she would eventually work.

2. Harvard University receives big money from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

3. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia lashes and/or executes people for the “crime” of being gay.

In other words, in Elena Kagan’s world it’s OK to execute gay people as long as you’re from an Islamic country that gives gazillions of dollars to Harvard. However, if you want to encourage Harvard students to join the American military, you’ll be run out on a rail as a homophobe.

This is the America in which we currently live. A country where liberals, progressives or whatever they are now calling themselves, will partner with a culture that seeks to murder the very people Democrats claim to protect for nothing more than politics, money and the furtherance of their agenda.

With all that in mind, watch this video and ask yourself if you think Elena Kagan should sit on America’s highest court.

Why is MSNBC Pushing For a Military Draft?

Last Monday for some reason I was watching MSNBC’s Morning Joe, which I never do.  I was working away and not looking at the TV screen but my ears pointed up when I heard Joe Scarborough call for a military draft for the wars in the middle east. I actually wondered if I had misheard him.

Then I saw that DaTechGuy, who I know watches Morning Joe, noticed the same thing and actually blogged about it.

Today, NewsBusters noted that MSNBC’s Dylan Ratigan called for a military draft. What’s going on over there?

I sincerely hope all the 18 to 25 year-olds who voted for Obama are paying close attention, because they are exactly who would get the call if a military draft was instated.

Then again, some of America’s young “activists” seem fond of warfare.

Oh, just one more thing. Do you think anyone besides me would be talking about this if FOX News was actively calling for a new military draft?

Update: Instapundit links, thanks!

Memorial Day: Remember America’s Fallen Heroes

Memorial Day is a time to remember the brave men and women who have died while defending America.

I found the video below on BLACKFIVE and couldn’t resist posting it here.

The music is a song by Enya called Na Laetha Geal M’Óige. The title, which is written in Irish Gaelic translates roughly to “the bright days of my youth” and is fitting when you consider that’s exactly what our greatest heroes gave up to defend our freedom and liberty.

Surprise! Obama Won’t Meet With Arizona Governor Jan Brewer

No surprises here…

President Obama has turned down Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer’s request to meet while she’s in Washington next week as tensions mount between his administration and Arizona over the state’s new law cracking down on illegal immigrants.

Brewer will be in Washington to meet with other governors. She said Friday that she had asked to meet with Obama and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano to discuss border security and immigration. But Obama’s schedule “doesn’t allow for a meeting” with her, White House spokesman Adam Abrams said, adding that the president “does intend to sit down with the governor in the future.”

No time for the troops on Memorial Day, no time to discuss border security, plenty of time to honor Paul McCartney.

Is Everybody Aware That Rush Limbaugh and Obama Have the Exact Same Opinion on Gay Marriage?

I’m just asking because I know that if I polled average people as I walked down the street, NO ONE would answer this question correctly.

Here’s an excerpt from the new book about Rush Limbaugh called “An Army of One” which offers some details that might surprise you…

“Atypically, Limbaugh didn’t say a word on the air about Sykes’ routine, or the fact that the president of the United States had smiled broadly, in front of the entire country, about the prospect of his death. He was disconcerted, though, and he was right to be. He was in first place on the enemies list of the president of the United States.”

Limbaugh is also in favor of homosexual civil unions, according to Chafets.

“He regards homosexuality as, most probably, biologically determined, and while he opposes gay marriage as culturally subversive, he has no problem with gay civil unions – which is the stance of President Obama and Hillary Clinton,” the author explains.

In related news, DADT repeal seems well under way.

To give credit where it’s due, the British have allowed gay people to serve openly in the military since Monty Python…

America’s Commander in Chief to Spend Memorial Day Weekend in Chicago

I, for one, am shocked.

President Barack Obama plans to spend a long holiday weekend in Chicago.

The White House says Obama and his family will travel to their hometown on Thursday and stay through the weekend. It will be their first trip back home since a visit for Valentine’s Day weekend in February 2009.

On Monday, Obama is scheduled to participate in a Memorial Day ceremony at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Ill.

In Obama’s absence, Vice President Joe Biden will participate in the customary wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery outside Washington.

Don’t despair though, Captain Priorities will be back in DC just in time to pay tribute to that great American hero who has sacrificed so much for all of us… Paul McCartney.

Paul McCartney is set to be honored by President Barack Obama in a June 2 ceremony at the White House, where the legendary rocker will be given the Gershwin Prize, a lifetime achievement award for contributions to pop music.

The Washington Post is relieved about Obama’s Chicago trip because it finally addresses one of his broken campaign promises. Yes, you read that right…

With the long Memorial Day weekend on the horizon, President Obama is finally addressing one of the great broken promises of his administration: his early pledge to return home to Chicago every six weeks or so.

Barf bags are available in the lobby folks but please don’t rush the exits.

The prominent military blog BLACKFIVE notes:

Thanks for the love and respect for the sacrifices of our veterans Mr. President.

I feel so appreciated….
