Have You Noticed Liberals Always Compare Obama To Republican Presidents?

January 22, 2013

He’s Lincoln! He’s Reagan! He’s Lincoln! He’s Reagan! He’s Lincoln! He’s Reagan!

Guess what folks… he’s neither.

Lincoln united a divided country, Obama has done everything in his power to further polarize Americans against each other. Reagan turned around a dismal economy, Obama has made things worse.

Frankly, if liberals are as proud of Obama as they claim to be while wiping the drool from their chins, why do they never compare Obama to Democratic Party presidents? Are Democrats admitting that Republican presidents are more effective and appealing? It sure seems that way.

Here’s Valerie Jarrett, the latest of many to compare Obama to Abraham Lincoln…

Obama’s advisor went on to compare the current president with Abraham Lincoln. “I think you can’t compare the Civil War to what we’re going through,” she said. “But we’ve been through a really tough time in our country. And seeing how Lincoln had to work so hard just to make the progress that he did, how he never gave up, and how resilient he was, and [how] he tried a whole range of different strategies. And I think obviously that resonated with the president. And so it kind of reaffirmed what he already knew, which is you have to be resilient. you have to be determined. And you can’t lose your focus, you can’t get distracted by short-term political interests.

Michael Tomasky swoons at the Daily Beast…

How Obama Can Become Our Era’s Reagan

Barack Obama’s speech was elegantly pugnacious, a fine articulation of civic-republican liberalism and a very clear statement of a political agenda, with its specific mentions of climate change and inequality and other concerns. As others have noted, it was his most openly liberal speech as president, and it tells us what he aiming for in term two. He wants to do for liberalism (without using the word of course; we’re still not at that point yet) what Ronald Reagan did for conservatism.

It’s funny how you never hear Democrats squeal with delight saying, Finally! Our generation’s Jimmy Carter! At Last! A Woodrow Wilson of our very own!

There’s a reason for that.

Dear Democrats,

You own Obama and everything his presidency has wrought. Please stop comparing him to successful Republicans. Your hypocrisy is only slightly more annoying than the credit you give our intelligence.

I expect them to start comparing him to future Presidents soon. I can see the headlines now, “How Obama has changed the Presidency and what his legacy will be”.

Drama, comparing him to future presidents might be: Amerika’s Great Leader Obama won the NBA title 4 times in term 5. Amerika’s Great Leader Obama won the Masters 8 times in term 7 and 8. Amerika’s Great Leader Obama, the most re-elected president in Amerika’s history, an unprecedented 9 times. And since 100% of the people voted for him in term 4, executive order #666,666 did away with that pesky little thing called voting. “Hail Obama !”

To be fair, he was also compared to FDR, which he is also not.

FDR, allowed his administration to be infiltrated by commies, BHO is allowing his to be infiltrated by muslim brotherhood.

Now now, upon occasion he is compared to FDR, not as often as Lincoln or Reagan but still sometimes. Also I’ve seen him compared to Johnson for his ability to get the Obamacare passed like Johnson got the Civil rights Act of 1963 passed, of course Johnson managed his work by getting some of his own party to join Republicans in voting for it while Obama got Obamacare passed by getting his own party to.

Obama belongs in the Lincoln era, I think.

That is, he is probably the modern-day counterpart to Fillmore, Pierce, and Buchanan. It took Lincoln to clean up their mess and it probably will require another Lincoln to clean up Obama’s mess.

Unfortunately, I don’t think the Republicans have another Lincoln on tap. Sorry, Romney didn’t even come close. UNTIL the RNC stops with the “It’s his turn now.” and listens, well, we’re sunk. Even if we win. Compassionate conservatism? Right. Sure. Tough love might have worked, Or at least got a debate going.

But I’ll tell Republicans one thing. As long as you’re Dem-lite on fiscal issues and far right on social issues, you are going to LOSE the independents. Bye. Nice knowing you. I’ll vote libertarian or not vote at all.

You summed up the D party in just enough words that even they might understand how pathetic they are,Bravo.

Not only do they “never compare Obama to Democratic Party presidents,” but they know they can’t be honest with the American people about what there real agenda is. Notice the Tomasky quote: “He wants to do for liberalism (without using the word of course; we’re still not at that point yet).” IOW, if they actually admitted there agenda is liberalism/far left, they would lose, so they don’t dare call it what it is.

I had a co-worker tell me, in all seriousness, that Ronald Reagan was a Democrat. She even used video of one of his speeches, in which he calls himself a “blue state politician,” as proof.

No doubt there will be videos of Lincoln proclaiming socialist ideals soon. I doubt anyone will either question whether the digital camcorder had been invented before his death. The news says it, and you do not have the authority to question the news, citizen.

And that was supposed to be “I doubt anyone will even question.” Worst thing about Chrome is that every time you turn off autocorrect, it eventually turns itself back on without warning.

The reason they keep comparing him to Reagan and Lincoln is that they want to rewrite those presidents as leftist Republicans. Time and again we hear that Reagan and Lincoln would not get the nomination from today’s “extremist” Republicans. Reagan and Lincoln are seen by many across the spectrum to be two of our greatest presidents (certainly two of the most popular), and they simply can’t be connected to the Republican party of today (not If the Obamacrats are to succeed in their destruction of the GOP). So they connect them to Obama. Before long people won’t even remember (or learn in school) what party those two presidents belonged to. Just like they don’t know that all the civil rights atrocities of the 19th and 20th centuries came from the Democrat side of the aisle.

Well he is like Lincoln. He will leave the country a burning ruin, divided for decades. Lincoln united the country, yeah like your mother in law makes your marriage better.

I agree. And the government increased in size under Reagan too. And spending increased. So I guess they have have to love him for that. But both Bush’s said specifically, they were big government conservatives. Which is why liberals were absolutely right about them being idiots. What I want to know is, how John Kennedy became a darling of the right, and Barry Goldwater a champion of liberals. Next they’ll be praising Jerry Falwell.

Veritas, I think you confuse Lincoln with Johnson and the rest of the Reconstructionists who departed radically from the direction Lincoln laid out in his Second Inaugural.

Obama tapping into the mystique of Lincoln, the “Great Centralizer” with no regard for the 10th Amendment? Actually, that seems quite appropriate — two presidents with great regard for unity by coercion.

Actualy, Clement Attlee is probably the most appropriate comparison, since no other US president has managed to take us down so far so fast.

Whatever Obama is, you can be certain that, if this country survives him, the 45th and NEXT President of the United States will first require that an exorcist “clean out” the Obama White House.

Its even worse than that, since he is also compared to unsuccessful repub presidents, whenever he has yet another disaster. The spin is either “Bush did the same thing” or “It was all the fault of Bush”.
