Let The Wookiee Win

May 31, 2013

Here’s a famous exchange from Star Wars…

[R2-D2 and Chewbacca are playing the holographic game aboard the Millennium Falcon]

Chewbacca: Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrgh!

C-3PO: He made a fair move. Screaming about it can’t help you.

Han Solo: Let him have it. It’s not wise to upset a Wookiee.

C-3PO: But sir, nobody worries about upsetting a droid.

Han Solo: That’s ’cause droids don’t pull people’s arms out of their sockets when they lose. Wookiees are known to do that.

Chewbacca: Grrf.

C-3PO: I see your point, sir. I suggest a new strategy, R2: let the Wookiee win.

That was the first thing I thought of when I read this report from Judicial Watch…

DOJ: Social Media Posts Trashing Muslims May Violate Civil Rights

In its latest effort to protect followers of Islam in the U.S. the Obama Justice Department warns against using social media to spread information considered inflammatory against Muslims, threatening that it could constitute a violation of civil rights.

The move comes a few years after the administration became the first in history to dispatch a U.S. Attorney General to personally reassure Muslims that the Department of Justice (DOJ) is dedicated to protecting them. In the unprecedented event, Attorney General Eric Holder assured a San Francisco-based organization (Muslim Advocates) that urges members not to cooperate in federal terrorism investigations that the “us versus them” environment created by the U.S. government, law enforcement agents and fellow citizens is unacceptable and inconsistent with what America is all about.

If the Star Wars reference isn’t obvious, the point I’m trying to make is that liberal progressives have absolutely no problem trashing Christians in social media on a regular basis because Christians don’t pull arms out of sockets or hack people to death in broad daylight for that matter.

The United States Constitution protects free speech and freedom of religion but not special interest groups. Do I even have to ask how liberals would react if a Republican president made special free speech provisions to protect the feelings of Christians?

Hat tip to Ace of Spades and Jim Treacher.

Note to Media Matters and Think Progress: No, I am not suggesting that Muslims are hairy, intergalactic pilots with laser crossbows.

Hmph! So what is DOJ gonna do? Come arrest me with busloads of police in the middle of the for violating Islamic blasphemy laws? I mean, this isn’t California, not here…specifically…
