Politico: Chelsea Clinton’s New Baby Has a Moon Rising in Uranus
OK, Politico didn’t say that Chelsea Clinton’s new baby has a moon rising in Uranus. I’m just trying to make a point about this stellar piece of hard hitting journalism…
The stars align for baby Charlotte
Leading astrologers say that Charlotte Clinton Mezvinsky is destined for a future working on social justice and will enjoy a strong relationship with her proud grandparents, Hillary and Bill.
After Chelsea Clinton and Mark Mezvinsky’s daughter was born at 7:03 pm at Lenox Hill Hospital on Manhattan’s Upper East Side on Friday, POLITICO asked astrologers to weigh in on what is written in the stars for the former first daughter’s first daughter.
“She may not follow her family’s politics, but she will follow the family’s activism and social justice and finding a way to serve the world, following in that community organizing path and picking up the roots of her grandparents,”said Ophira Edut, of the AstroTwins and co-author of the book “Momstrology: The AstroTwins’ Guide to Parenting your Little One by the Stars.”
Back in 2008, when Sarah Palin’s daughter Bristol was pregnant, Politico was all too happy to talk about Trig Trutherism…
Palin’s unmarried daughter is pregnant
Besieged by blog rumors about her 17-year-old daughter, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin — named Friday as running mate of John McCain — released a statement Monday saying her daughter is pregnant and plans to marry the father.
The governor and her husband, Todd, said their daughter Bristol plans to keep the baby.
“Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that, as parents, we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned,” the Palins said in the statement. “As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support.”
Liberal bloggers have drawn the ire of the McCain campaign for speculating extensively about the possibility that Palin’s fifth child, born this spring, was actually her daughter’s. Bristol Palin is said to be five months pregnant; Sarah Palin’s youngest child, Trig, was born on April 18.
You see, unlike members of the Palin brood, the new Clinton baby is American royalty.
Here’s all I’ll say in Politico’s defense: This is the sort of thing that typically runs in the media on the occasion of royal births, no? And little Charlotte’s de facto royalty in a country that’s trending towards monarchy. We’re on the cusp of a Bush/Clinton rematch in 2016; Obama, a guy who got elected running against the idea of an all-powerful executive, now routinely exercises kingly powers that Bush never could have gotten away with. Like JFK Jr (and her own mom), Charlotte will have reporters tailing her and asking her if she’s planning to run for office someday literally until the day she dies, no matter what field she ends up in.
Congratulations to Chelsea Clinton and her husband on their new baby.
And to the writers of Politico…
I hope you enjoyed the placenta.
