Very sad news.

From The Hollywood reporter…

‘Saturday Night Live’ Actress Jan Hooks Dies at 57

The Emmy-nominated actress joined the ‘SNL’ cast in 1986

Jan Hooks, best known for her work on Saturday Night Live, died on Thursday in New York at the age of 57, her representative, Lisa Lieberman, confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.

No further details were immediately available.

On the NBC late-night variety show, which she joined in 1986, she notably played one-half of The Sweeney Sisters, along with Nora Dunn. She performed in character at the 40th Emmy Awards in the opener in August, 1988.

Jan Hooks was one of my favorite cast members back in the days when I used to watch Saturday Night Live. Here’s a clip from her brilliant scene in Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure.
