McConnell Trounces Grimes in Kentucky

November 4, 2014

Good news. Alison Grimes was a horrible candidate. Conservatives can call McConnell a Rino all they want but he was better than the alternative…

McConnell handily takes sixth Senate term

U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell swept through Kentucky on his way to a sixth term, leading what could have the makings of a Republican wave that threatens Democratic control of the state House of Representatives for the first time in more than 90 years.

The win puts McConnell in prime position to become the Senate’s next majority leader if the GOP can win the six seats it needs to wrest control of the chamber from Democrats. If he’s successful, he’ll be only the second Kentuckian to lead the Senate — the first being Alben Barkley in the 1930s and 1940s.

The Associated Press called the race for McConnell about 7 p.m. Tuesday after Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes’s support in her hometown of Lexington failed to materialize.
