Obama Visits Jamaica, Says Nothing About Country’s Mistreatment of Gay People
One week after threats of violence from American leftists caused an Indiana pizza place to close, for simply telling a reporter they disagree with gay marriage, Obama visited Jamaica, a country known for its terrible treatment of gay people.
Before embarking, Obama made sure to use an Easter prayer breakfast to lecture American Christians for not being loving enough. In Jamaica, he said nothing.
Neither did the leftists who wanted to burn down Memories Pizza of Indiana.
The liberal Huffington Post filed this report last year…
Gay Jamaicans Victims Of Violence, Human Rights Watch’s ‘Not Safe At Home’ Report Finds
Gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people are the targets of unchecked violence and discrimination in Jamaica, frequently refused housing or employment in the Caribbean country typically described as the region’s most hostile to LGBT citizens, a leading human rights group says in a report released Tuesday.
In its 86-page report titled “Not Safe at Home,” Human Rights Watch noted that LGBT citizens in Jamaica are often driven from their communities by neighbors and sometimes even family. Some health professionals stigmatize them by casting judgment on their sexuality when they seek care. Police protection against bias and physical attacks is generally poor.
As far as I can tell, no one in the American media even thought to ask Obama for his thoughts on Jamaica’s poor record on LGBT issues or if he would say anything about it on his trip.
They were too busy writing articles like these:
In an ultimate twist of irony, many lefty sites like Jezebel nearly wet themselves over a photo of Obama leaving Jamaica which showed a rainbow, seemingly emanating from Obama’s hand. The rainbow colors are a well known symbol of the LGBT community.
