Two Amazing Videos From the 2011 Tsunami in Japan

May 1, 2015

For reasons I can’t explain, I was watching videos of the 2011 tsunami in Japan on YouTube this week.

Both of these videos are incredible, but in different ways.

This video is shot from a distant angle, so you truly get a sense of the size of the first waves. They crash over a massive breakwater and then crest again.

The second video is much closer.

This is a village which sits by a river. At the beginning of the video, the water recedes. When it comes back a few minutes later, it’s a fast moving wall. The level of destruction is astounding.

The second video says disabled by owner – watch on YouTube.
